Meet Nibble. Half pony, half mimic. She appears to be mostly mimic, but biologically she’s mostly pony since she eats normal food and can’t digest metals or gemstones :D

It just now occurred to me there’s actually a book called “The Real Book”. I just picked that name on a whim because she’s all like “It’s okay, I’m a real book” the same way her mom wears a tag that reads “Not a mimic!” XD

Well, a sleeping bag can’t move itself around to keep you contained while it eats any valuables you have on your person.

Their “shell” is part of their body. It’s actually only hard when they’re pretending to be an inanimate object; when they reveal themselves it becomes soft and rubbery. It’s part of what makes fighting them off so difficult; struggling free of one is like fighting your way out of a sleeping bag XD
Not Badum’s mimics. He said that, the way he sees it, they form their shell to fit the environment they live in, then they’re stuck with their shell.
But she instead decided to become a decades-old book full of sheet music and chord progressions. Though could a mimic change its shell…?

it’s neither a mimic nor a pony. it’s just an innocent ordinary real book.
Though I’m not sure whether libraries regularly carry around books full of sheet music.

after taking extensive notes on the strange creature, twilight sparkle came to the stunning conclusion that quibble pants had returned her in lieu of ‘daring do and the mark of doom’ making his library book two months overdue! his claim that his daughter ate the book would fall on deaf ears, as twilight levied him the 12 bit late fee.
Tried my hand at drawing Nibble myself.
Not completely happy with this but the idea came across okay.
