And Here we have a gift for the winner of our fifth Weekly Raffle! This is prize One of TWO. The second will come in the next few days.
Nyx - of Past Sins fame, request of Shojaux
I can’t figure out if I’ve dranw Nyx before or not. She’s an adorable little snugglemuffin. I read Past Sins back when it came out OVER HALF A DECADE ago. The request was for Nyx to be a teenager - blushing. Well we all love a blushing horsie. I hope this pleases!
Regarding the pic: Because she was a teenager, I went with a more Filly-fluttershy-esque lankiness in the legs, making her look a bit unbalanced and thin. Her back legs were a bit of a gaff. I wanted her to appear surprised and off-balanced (maybe as a result of her blushing) but it looks a bit off. Teenagers are often self-confident, hence I equipped her with her lovely glasses (although if you look close you CAN see a little bit of her dragon-eyes in the corner. Her fetlocks have been cut back and her mane is styled long. Teenagers will be teenagers. Also stuck a ribbon on her tail. Why not?
To all of you who participated in the fifth raffle, thanks for participating! The feedback was overwhelming and I hope you join in for the next one!
There won’t be a raffle this coming week (15th Nov) due to overfilled schedules but it WILL resume next week on the 22nd November! Check back then to participate in the raffle!
Looking forward to seeing you all later <3
Ponies belong to our supreme pony overlords.
Sorry about that. I just wanted to drive the point home.
I know XD
Not intending to be harsh, but you kinda had that coming reading comments about a character until finishing their story XD <3
It really doesn’t. She isn’t perfect at all. She was constantly worried about who she was, a pony or a monster.
|| And after she gave in, or was forced to be Nightmare moon, she kept struggling to be the ruthless leader “she” used to be. ||
Also I’m on chapter 15 and you just spoiled the ending for me. Reee. XD
From what I understand, the two biggest characteristics of a “Mary Sue” character are effortless perfection and being unreasonably well-liked. Nyx is not perfect; The strain she felt while de-hypnotizing Spell Nexus was elaborately described, and in protecting her home from an invasion of forest creatures, she nearly exhausted herself. At the end of the story, most of her excess magic is absorbed into Luna’s body, setting her magical talent back at square one. Nyx also has reasonable publicity; As a manifestation of Nightmare Moon, having banished the Royal Sisters and presided over a two-week period of night, some would be justifiably wary around her. But her friends and family remember the fun memories of her “fillyhood”, the willing abdication of her throne, and devotion to protect them from danger.
That doesn’t sound like a Mary Sue to me.
