Well, the thing is that a lot of artists including myself want to draw specific things. And jumping straight into it makes the learning process more fun, even if the results aren’t the best quality at first. Honestly I just wanted to draw a character with big boobs; that was my motivation for this sketch.

Hopefully with some more practice I can improve the anatomy.

I can see what you were aiming for here, but it’s kinda fallen flat.

If you wish to improve, here’s some suggestions:
  • References. References of the character you’re drawing, references of the pose you’re using (if you can find one), and a general human/pony reference. Trust me, they help a lot when it comes down to it.

  • Practice. It doesn’t have to be, y’know, a full body sketch, with a character thought out and everything. Some mannequins will do. Drawing mannequins in various poses will help you lock in proportions, and general anatomy. Just remember to constantly check yourself against the references you’re using.

  • Watch some videos/guides on basic human drawing. I’ve personally found that taking bits of advice that various videos give you will help to improve your sketch process. Whether that’s blocking out a pose before trying to add a human shape to it, finding a starting point, etc.

Now please, don’t take this the wrong way; I’m not telling you to stop drawing, or anything. It’s plain as day that you want to be able to draw your own stuff. If you look through what I’ve done under my artist tag, you can see that I also want to do more of my own sketches. These suggestions are things that I’ve done in order to achieve that.

Trust me, when it comes to drawing, we all start somewhere.

So many artists that forego proper anatomy and just jump straight into porn.
