Forget about it ,man.I can see you’re one of the few who dont buy that KUMBAYA Internet bullshit and “muh memes”.Read “The Cult of the Amateur” by Andrew Keen if you want to be redpilled on how the Internet anarchy and the GAFA is fucking us all in the long term

As raaka said only those who give up are ruined, another way of looking at it is the old saying all it takes for evil to win is for good people to do nothing we need to let the corrupt officials within the EU’s parliament that we the common citizens shall not tolerate such a blatant attempt to censor dissenting opinions often shared in the form of memes under the false guise of protecting the little guy which as we’ve seen time and time again have mostly benefited large corporations while making things harder for everyone else.

It probably won’t kill any site yet. Especially not relevant enough ones. But this is something that should make the owners consider moving servers to a country where such laws are not in place. Doing so is an investment for the future. It takes time and money, but will save them the hassle of walking on eggshells.
One of the problems of prohibition is the harm it causes to normal people. No one is harmed by pony memes, or memes in general, but these laws compromise them with the sole intent of helping a few corrupt politicians and news outlets save face.

In my country those parents enroll their kids in catholic schools. Sometimes it seems meddling parents are a bigger issue than people would admit.
They don’t let their kids assume any risk or learn things they don’t like. Especially religious fanatics would rather keep their children in a bubble than let them learn on their own.

well, I hope you do. it’d be nice to put them in a common forum with their peers, so they could get comfortable with diversity and irreconcilable differences with others, but public school’s become too institutional to be healthy.

but then again I hope other people, who just want to brainwash their kids in hugboxes, don’t homeschool. so I’m kind of divided about home schooling. there’s still a majority of home schoolers who do it to trick their kids into believing their church’s doctrine, and that’s just disgusting.

I agree on every statement you have made in this last post.
I just consider relevant to add, both colleges are large institutions just that one has a bias to one side and another to the opposite. Thanks to the internet, schools are somewhat redundant nowadays. Homeschooling is a better alternative in modern times.
I am certainly going to focus on homeschooling my children. I don’t want them to suffer what their mother and I have gone through in educational institutions.

I live a relatively normal life despite my consumption of entertainment
cool for you. I’m about as impulsive as my namesake, so consumption of entertainment is something I have a… particular problem with. but I think other people have a problem too, some not even aware of it.
they build their own hugboxes
bullies do build hugboxes, but they’re not usually the… builder type. what I’ve found is they usually try to sabatoge existing hugboxes, shaming the admins into giving up power, then just taking the users for their own. but a lot of that stuff happens behind closed doors, so I’m not sure what the heck happened to tumblr and 4chan.
We were constantly forced into taking courses with evident far [something] ideology
a lot of smaller schools don’t have many options as far as bias is concerned. if they have three professors on staff who teach social studies, even if only one of them has an agenda, you’re likely to run into them a lot.

there’s also the censorship imposed on schools by aforementioned shame bullies. I certainly learned way more about sex at my public library than I ever was taught under a structured curriculum. lots of people want us forcibly ignorant in some fashion or another, and many schools can’t take the risk of teaching that stuff. if they do, people will accuse them of having a far-something ideology and scare students away from enrolling, or try to sabatoge their accreditation.

then there are people who attack schools for not teaching the truth, where “the truth” is whatever falsehoods that support those people’s private agenda. plus you have to watch out for people who try to skew things so badly, that moderates are the ones they accuse of having an extreme ideology. (the nerve of those heliocentric round-earthers, always trying to force their ideology on us!)

Point by point.
Regarding parks: Yes. Mostly as you say, helicopter parents are abundant in most, but I still find some places where one can actually talk to people in a humane way.
On entertainment: I do understand your concern. People prone to addiction might be unable to stick their minds out of that. I live a relatively normal life despite my consumption of entertainment, and if it wasn’t a series, a game, or a comic, I would engage in a novel. I do, and in fact thanks to that I became a novelist. However, even literature comes with that risk as Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra warned in his magnum opus “El Ingenioso Hidalgo Don Quixote de La Mancha.” In which the main character loses himself in a fantasy world after reading stories of adventurers for decades and doing nothing but that.
Bullies: It is not just that they get in charge, they build their own hugboxes. “Safe spaces” and other social bubbles don’t stop them, just like school cliques never did.
On school: I agree. Schools should be more like libraries, since they should make information, knowledge, resources, and all educational matters available with little to no pressure. It is true that teaching them what to do, and more often than not teaching them lies based on the agenda of the educator or institution, is terrible.
I will use an example. I went to a publicly funded college, where most people were far left. We were constantly forced into taking courses with evident far left ideology. My sister went to a private institution which had several far right investors. She would get courses full of far right ideology.
It is evident none of us had a proper and actual education, forcing us to seek facts, separate from all agenda, on our own, and even leading to us finding facts no school would teach.

I am glad there are still some parks full of people in my area. One advantage of living in the suburbs I suppose.
what I find in my area are parks full of children with their parents supervising them in case anyone like me comes along.
but maybe I’m being a teeny bit pessimistic there.
While I disagree on video games or television being that harmful, on their own that is, the current environment is absolutely unfit for sanity.
you can determine how addictive a television show is by measuring how often it provokes the “orientation response,” and how often it requires you to keep watching to find out what happens next. similarly, any eye-catching video game that leaves you wandering the hills on a journey to find out what happens next is addictive.

video games go a step further, introducing outright gambling, or variable ratio reinforcement. so any game that has random encounters, random drops, random treasure, or random level generation is even more addictive.
Regarding hugboxes, bullies are also a problem.
sad thing is hugboxes are intended to stop bullies, but people don’t realize what bullies are, and what they want. they’ll find that suddenly bullies don’t care about spewing hateful vitriol. now bullies are very friendly and responsible, and concerned with justice. and once the bullies are moderators they start screwing with people.

bullies want to take power away from others. they don’t actually care about hate speech, only that it upsets people and disrupts conversations. they’ll happily switch to abusive moderation in a pinch.
With the school system being more based on useless skills and conformity than actual teaching, instruction, or personal growth.
I still think schools should be more like libraries somehow. we need to stop teaching people what to do, and start asking them how we can help.

Again we seem to see things in a similar fashion. While I disagree on video games or television being that harmful, on their own that is, the current environment is absolutely unfit for sanity. I am glad there are still some parks full of people in my area. One advantage of living in the suburbs I suppose.

Regarding hugboxes, bullies are also a problem. They nest in those hugboxes turning into festering abominations while their peers support them.
You could say our current society is one where anti social behavior is extremely encouraged while people are coddled, by specific peers, into conformity. With the school system being more based on useless skills and conformity than actual teaching, instruction, or personal growth.

sad thing is cyberbullies aren’t the problem. the problem is hugboxes twisting people with kind words to be hypersensitive. the bullies aren’t getting any worse, but we can’t deal with them, because we’re filled with such hatred by our hugboxes, that we freak out at even the slightest flame bait.

I don’t think public education is what’s dividing us, but I agree that it needs a lot of work. I learned more useful stuff at the library than I was ever taught in school. you could actually find books on sex for instance! if schools were more like libraries, where you were asked what they could teach you, instead of told what you should learn, that’d do a lot of good in my opinion.

yeah most kids are like “fuck school I wanna play vidya” but the problem with that is addictive video games, not their adherence to a curriculum.

as for the spike in depression, ever looked outside lately? the streets are empty. there are only faceless motor vehicles driving around everywhere, making the streets unsafe for human beings, and locking their drivers in hermetically sealed isolation. we’re sitting inside, alone, in artificial lighting, addicted to television, then addicted to computer games and social media.

like with lab rats, humans don’t even get addicted to cocaine, when they have stimulating friendships, social activities, and a future that isn’t thankless labor followed by dying alone. do you think I’m depressed because public school taught me algebra, or because I’m never gonna get laid?
