Interesting. In fact that seems to be a coming of age ceremony, especially since Yona takes pride on the braids. Not to mention Yaks live in a more tribal way, which means socially they must grow up faster.
 
With that in mind, we know little about pony laws regarding age, and it would seem there might be none since the focus in pony life is following their cutie mark.

Upon rewatching, a clue has emerged that may tip the scales in regards to her stage of development.
 
When she explained Snilldar Fest and said that calves picked out the perfect log, she was definitely involved in that, confirming she was considered a calf at that point last year. Having her first braid afterwards was very likely a sign she’s coming-of-age, so the only thing you have to ask is whether Yaks culturally finish coming-of-age during a single event like historically/traditionally, or over the course of years like modern teens.
 
Or if any of this matters because modern ponies would call that a young teen regardless and they make the laws.

Student and teacher having some love together wonder if her young yak/pony look like 🤔 I ship them so hard I’m glad to see them making some love

Based on behavior and looks I assume they are in high school age, since Yona and Smolder are small for their species standards. Still, already past puberty (And we saw both Spike and the CMC hit puberty. lol.), which means there is no issue in regards to age. Biological adults should do as they please.  
In regards to teacher-student relations… He pretty much quitted that and works telling tales. No longer her teacher, no ethical breach.  
The inter species part might be complicated, since there will be no offspring unless a princess comes up with some deus ex machina to make it happen. And yet still, Lyra and Bonbon are implied canon lesbians, so non reproductive relationships are clearly no cause of trouble.  
The cultural differences are actually almost irrelevant, since it is clear their values and personality are extremely similar.  
I would worry more about how much damage a couple who loves to smash things to bits could cause to any nearby object.

I’m assuming college age for the six until evidence suggests otherwise, but that might be beside the point.  
The appropriateness of teacher-student relations varies wildly from culture to culture, and circumstance to circumstance.  
That’s not even getting into interspecies relations between a pony who still remembers when intertribal was progressive and a yak who remembers when yaks were isolationist, because that was last year or so, and they can’t interbreed because they don’t even belong to the same order of mammals, no magic genetics workaround, so that’s a factor.  
TL;DR, the ship would be a dramatic uphill battle in-show and possibly irl, which if nothing else, makes for great story potential.

According to what standards would it be impossible? I mean, yes, it might not appear on show (Even though technically most of Twilight’s students seem to be past puberty), but the emotional compatibility is evident.
 
Rockhoof is a lot more Yak than some Yaks actually.

I thought it was much closer to a student having a crush on a teacher they admire. The age difference between them(not counting the limbo time even); would make this all but impossible.
