When Rainbow chastised Rarity’s critique of Daring Do’s action scenes due to the fact that they both knew that Daring Do was real and the stories were based on true events, a thought crossed my mind that I knew I wanted to make the basis for this comic: What if Shadow Spade is also real? What if her stories are actually stealth autobiographies just like Daring’s, and the only difference is the Mane 6 just don’t know about the other one? Furthermore, what if Daring and Shadow are ALSO friends sharing a dynamic similar to Rainbow and Rarity and still getting along despite their differences, further cementing this episode’s moral and putting R&R’s arguments in a new perspective?
…I don’t know if any of this is funny, but I wanted to get the idea out there. And now I want to read a real book series chronicling the adventures of Shadow Spade. Daring Do already has one, and honestly I think I’d be more interested in seeing her mysteries than Daring’s temple raids.
Hope you all can appreciate a wide range of literature and media… and people, too! On to the next episode!
Daring Do, Shadow Spade, and My Little Pony belong to Hasbro and DHX.
Now I wonder if Rarity was thinking of Shadow Spade when making the Mare Do Well costume.
Her fight with Rarity did not help put her in a mood to try something else Rarity liked.
Also, I really want Shadow Spade expanded upon.
Let’s go deeper. This series is being ghost written by actual sapient horses from the second dimension chronicling their lives in their quest to spread the gospel of friendship across the multiverse. Pinkie Pie is the liason between worlds, pronking through portals with Rick-less abandon,
The rabbit hole has gotten too deep!
I was originally thinking Fluttershy’s would have something to do with manga, but I like your idea a lot more!
Now we need authors for AJ and Pinkie, though it’s kinda hard imagining either of them getting super invested in some sort of fandom. …Maybe AJ would be inspired by some old folk hero who’s not only still alive, but who’s tales are completely unexaggerated and may also be related to her, hence the similarities in apprerance (she’s got a big family; it’s possible). Pinkie would have to have the most outlandish, surreal, no-way-this-could-possibly-be-based-on-a-true-story author out of all the six.
…And just for extra WTF, all six of them have their stories edited by the same pony, who is a recolor of Starlight. She has no idea any of them are actually their characters.
●Fluttershy reads romance novels that Rarity got her into starring a recolor of her, and said real mare (looking like Fluttershy recolored mind you) is regarded as so gorgeous, ponies all but say out loud Rarity looks plain by comparison. Maybe she helps Spike with Rarity by making her jealous, maybe because she’s a crystal pony admiring Spike the Brave and Glorious.
●Twilight gets into a new novel spreading the friendship gospel through a parable starring somepony originally abandoned by a friend, but saved by the friendship of a princess clearly meant to be Twilight by anypony reading. Writing under a pseudonym, it doesn’t take long to figure out it was actually written by Moondancer. The twist with this idea is the reversal of the pattern of other recolor authors.

Anything is possible in the realm of Equestria.
This one, right?
That was just Rainbow and Rarity playing dress-up, though. I’m more referring to a reality in which Daring and Shadow are both real ponies and run into each other occasionally during their adventures, without necessarily writing about said encounters.
