Politics with the dragons were always her brother’s specialty; she missed Artemis dearly, but now it made her miss him all the more. The dragons were known for their stubbornness and irrationality. What would she do now?
A recent raid from the dragons on equestria’s farmlands had forced Celestia to take matters in her own hooves. The dragons had broken their peace treaty, and now it was time to see if the dragons were to go into war with the ponies again. But then, why would the Dragon king invite her to their own lands if their intentions were evil? What did they have in mind?
A million thoughts passed as Celestia finally reached the ashen lands. She could never get used to the stench of sulfur and burnt wood. She reached a familiar mountain; which soon turned it’s face to reveal the king himself. The king narrowed his eyes, gazing at the alicorn with a dull interest.
“So, it has come to my attention that several of my subjects have raided your lands”
Celestia struggled to keep the uncertainty out of her voice. “Yes. 6 of my subjects have died, dozens more injured. My lands have been burnt and rampaged beyond recognition, and it is clear that you have broken our peace treaty.”
“Our peace treaty?” He scoffed. “That was a treaty I made between your brother and I. He was the sole reason of the peace between our lands. He understood our ways, whilst you do not. And now he shines upon our lands, trapped in the moon.”
Celestia angrily stomped her hoof. “I am not here to discuss my brother! I demand compensation for the damage and death of my subjects!”
The king gave a bored look. “The raiders were renegades, acting on their own. We have already killed them for their insolence.”
“I-what..?” Celestia looked up in disbelief.
“As for your.. ‘compensation’ you are probably quite aware that we have nothing you ponies would want, or even use. But we do have something to give you”
A small dragon flew up with a purple egg in her claws, placing it gingerly in front of the confused alicorn.
“A..an egg?”
“Here, in the dragon lands,” The king interrupted. “We pay an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth. This was one of the eggs from the renegades. It is now yours to smash or keep”
“A dragon egg?!” Celestia exclaimed. “t-this is unheard of! surely there must be~~”
“Like I said before, your brother knew our ways. This is our compensation for your loss. You may take it and raise it as your servant, or leave it here to rot. It is your choice to make princess”
Celestia gingerly held the egg in her hooves, careful as not to leave a single scratch on it’s smooth surface.
“We.. may have some use for the egg yet. I will accept this.”

Headcanon:Spike’s parents were raiders and his egg was given to Celestia from the dragon king
I mean come on! Where did Celestia even get that dragon egg for Twilight’s entry exam anyways?? Surely she didn’t kidnap an egg from the dragon lands?!
