I’ve never been fond of that particular pun.
You see, I was a pre-med student in college, so “amnio” for me will always refer to the fetus (as in the “amniotic fluid”), which is to say creation. And so “amniomorphic” would mean to change the original shape at creation. Or in other words, a breed-changing spell.
That’s why when I originally heard Twilight use the term in “Luna Eclipsed”, I immediately assumed that it was the spell that turned Celestia and Luna into alicorns.
