I’ve been enjoying drawing Torch lately. I think it’s because I got tired of drawing the other characters and he’s the only decent adult in the show. He’s fun to draw, not too simple but also not overly detailed.
The OC is a stand-in for Ember’s mom, until we get to know the real one. That is, if we do. I imagine Ember takes a lot after her mother, so she’s free-spirited and intelligent.

Raze was the working title. I changed it to Blaze when I changed her design.

I’m aware. That’s why I used the terms “may” and “might.” She may be that small to fit better in the shot. It would be rather awkward if she took up the entire page. There’s also the headcanon floating about of Torch’s large size might partially be magical due to hoarding. So sizes can often be fickle when dealing with dragons.
Very interesting. They could definitely be related. I severely doubt Ember’s mother is that small, though. I’d have to feel very bad for her.
Comics aren’t our best source to be honest. I mean, just compare comic Grandpa Gruff to show Grandpa Gruff. That’s besides the “are the comics canon or not” debate.
