The fact, that Jack Pot and his buddy Big Bucks escaped from the “wrong” side of the stage make it looks even more like that he is Trixies’ dad. They both share a bad sense of direction/distance to cover behind smoke bombs. :-D

I thought right away he was Trixies’ dad, and the smoke bomb nearly confirms it for me. I found it weird how the other magician nearly has spikes color scheme, even the same eye color. Probably means nothing I just found it interesting.

Not necessarily. IDW comic artist Andy Price described the relationship between the show and the comics like this: the show is canon in the comics, but the comics aren’t canon to the show. The series has often contradicted some of the background created in the comics.
