Looking back at it now i definitely believe that sombra got what he had coming to him, anyone who would go as far as to destroy the free will of others for their own selfish goals which in his case was conquest deserves nothing more than death, destroying the free will of another living being is undeniably one of the worst crimes any creature could possibly commit.

Most problems with the Nightmare timeline can be fixed with magic, and Nightmare Moon seems to be a pretty reasonable ruler. With Sombra in control, you’re in a constant war and you’re either forced to fight those you care about or lose all your freedom and become a mindless puppet.
