I agree being a two-faced nice guy is worse than being an upfront ass, but a big part of being mature is controlling your emotions and not losing your temper over everything.
 
That said, Luna’s being equally childish by running around instead of confronting him maturely. If she calmly tried talking to him and he started insulting and yelling at her, then I’d say she’d be justified in walking away. But she didn’t object so he continued, she left without a word and he doesn’t even realize what her problem was(he’s also likely been raised in a bad part of town so this is just natural to him and the others - a lot of the ponies were also asses too with the first one calling him “human trash” so it’s not like he was telling polite ponies to F-off.) I’m guessing the next strip will resolve this now that Luna actually voiced her issue.
 
The comic is called “Young days” I’m guessing the main focal point will be them both becoming more mature.

Quite honestly, this is like something made out of vantablack running away from the kettle because the kettle’s black. Sure, the kettle is black, but vantablack is even blacker. What I’m saying is that Luna is a fucking cunt in this comic, but is running away because Tommy is loudmouthed.
