I appreciate the artist’s respect for equine mouth anatomy. Not only does AJ have three sets of incisors before a gap for the bit, she is also a naturally high-T mare who developed upper and lower canines.

Since this popped up in my notifications again, I think I have a hypothesis why her anger is more intense in the B&W edition. It’s the shading on her eyes and lips in the B&W that sells it. Adding color seems to have reduced the contrast and definition in those areas. Also, there aren’t wrinkle lines on her nose here.
this lacks the unbridled rage. it looks more like she’s about to turn her head and cuss. her eyes are slightly more crossed, which doesn’t make it look like she’s glaring at something, but rather considering to herself. I don’t know if you intended that, but that’s what I’m seeing. the lack of exposed gums makes her look less like she’s about to bite someone. the placement of her left leg is not as spread as in the sketch. her forelegs and hindquarters looked better when they were more in the shape of a box, instead of a sideways u-shape like here. her shoulder muscles aren’t tensed, and actually… look kinda wonky. also she’s not scrunching. definitely missing the scrunchy nose.
the shading is amazing, and you did a good job on the mane and tail. I like the soft painted green and blue background. her eyes are gorgeous; they really shine. Imma have to favorite the sketch though, because this just… looks like you got lost as to exactly what you were drawing, sometime in the coloring process.
Well just like dogs, horses show their teeth when there mad. Their ears pin back as well.

Seriously… she doesn’t look so angry as in the original
