That’s a good one. That’s usually why it’s hard to take “political” pony mouthpiece comics so seriously.
Sometimes if you critique those at all, or complain about it “mouthpiecing,” the artist will start to act similar to how “Strawman Dashie” is in there. I’ve seriously gotten chewed out by people like that on DA. Hilariously, one even posted a “response” to people like me in their DA image description going off on a long rant about how they “don’t care” what other people say about their image, and how horrible people are if they disagree with them.
shmorky does tend to do that sort of thing ♥
Omg thank you, you made my day XD
It’s still successful though, so they must be doing something right. It’s true they can’t please everyone, but still many many fans young or old seem pleased, so that’s all that matters. They’re already doing their own thing regardless who’s watching, so there’s no need to complain.

The thing is, the creators of the show aren’t trying to please everyone, and are perfectly aware they can’t. They even stated the periphery demographic doesn’t influence the show, (except maybe some special cases like “A Slice of Life,” but believe it or not, even some kids like Derpy, and know the memes) and they just make it however they want.
Still, they don’t need to sacrifice “quality” to make it appeal to only kids, nor adults. (Also, not all the adult fans attack the creators, most of them get along with them actually if you did more research.)
I think the idea that “cartoons should only appeal to children/or only one audience” like you’re suggesting is the outdated concept that’s been going around sense the 1970s to even today. Even Faust herself said she didn’t make the show just for little girls…
Also, as for it being just a toy commercial, that’s also true of TMNT, & Batman Brave & the Bold, and they still managed to please children & adults alike without much problem. Besides, I can’t think of any toy stuff forced into the MLP show sense “Rainbow Rocks.” (And the writers were clever sneaking it in throughout the season) And you need not criticise the “economical/business” of the show as it looks like the show, and merch’ are doing very very well regardless of nerds enjoying the show too.
“Even Walt Disney himself believed only catering to kids wasn’t the way animation should be made, so animation doesn’t have to cater to only one audience, and sacrifice the other.”
Walt Disney was maybe in the right at the time where he was alive.Times are changing and the current era is the age of fandoms aka entitled adults harassing creators and leaking their movie in its entirety.A time will come when companies will decide that it’s not worth attracting periphery demographic that are damaging the family-friendly reputation of a brand and are even costing them more money than they bring.Pleasing every demographics is an outdated concept in this current era from an economic perspective,we’re talking about MLP?a toy commercial
The key word is “trying to please everyone” like in the expression “you cant please everyone”.The show spread itself too thin in haphazardous directions and on creative dead end (take a guess) rather than focusing on what made its success
“No one?”
Well, it still has a viewership, released a big budget feature film recently, has an eighth season coming soon. It must be pleasing plenty of kids, and older fans. (I saw a kid in the store today wearing a pony mask. Just ‘cause there are older or odd fans, doesn’t mean the kids aren’t enjoying it, or vice-versa.) Even Walt Disney himself believed only catering to kids wasn’t the way animation should be made, so animation doesn’t have to cater to only one audience, and sacrifice the other.
Also, if they were trying to cater mostly/only to bronies/older fans, they would’ve had Twilight lose her wings, never invented Flurry Heart, or any of the other stuff older fans didn’t like.

True, but we can call them on it when we come across it. For example the whole filly thing is messed up on an epic level. Calling these people out and ensuring that they don’t feel welcome in the group if they are going to act like that is a way to combat it without going overboard.
The problem is, it would be impossible to police the whole fanbase or internet. We can’t just pick random weirdos, and magically kick them off the internet.
Besides, that thing tends to lead to witch-hunting of innocent fans too.
i have met a lot of 4chaners out of 4chan, most of the time they re cool dudes who can act normaly, the real problem is those idiots who act the exact same inside and outside of 4chan, they re the worst
and 4chan is the main reason why my 3-4 year relationship broke up with me, because said person was becoming one of those, broke up with me because i was too “normie” and “boring”, and to start a new relationship with another 4chaner, it was the best thing, the best person in the world for my ex
As much as people like to meme, troll, and do whatever else with their Internet anonymity, probably should tone it down and act like a decent human being.
