According to the wiki, the top image is from the official release, at least in the US. Where did the bottom image come from?

Amoungst all the reclours away from Ponies we know, one of them ends up with Octavia’s pallet…

In one of the scenes from the movie, there is a generic background pony who is a recolor of Night Glider. Considering that the characters weren’t just changed for the trailer, I’m guessing that Glider was supposed to appear in the scene.  
The more you know.

I like how absolutely nothing is different about the scenes except for the ponies’ colors. Need a new pony? Just slap on a new color pallete from stock and you’re good to go!

Maybe berry punch got drunk on set and was replaced in reshoots?

They probably just changed the colors so people wouldn’t ask what four Ponyville ponies were all doing in Canterlot.

All the pony hooves are shaped like hearts in the movie. That was an artistic choice decided on by the production team when they recreated the character models in ToonBoom Harmony.

Hey do you notice the shape of berry punch’s hoof it’s shaped like a heart.

The free movie tickets were for the third place winner in the raffle. The top prizes were two OC slots in season 8.

I was at Hascon and those were for the movie which is also why they would get free tickets, nothing S8.

What the hell are you talking about?

If they are oc’s at the bottom then they should changed the hair at least, it gives a very Deviant art’’ using a base ‘’.  
The color change does not bother me much , but either it was the oc’s thing or just becasue it felt needed.

As it only happend to this very scene, I am pretty sure that’s the results from the “Bring your OC into the movie!” contest.

Yeah, I noticed that too. I wonder why they did that. Maybe so these ponies’ colors look nicer with the background? Or maybe they wanted to make the population of Canterlot seem bigger?

That’s…a really weird choice, unless they’re changing them just to make their colors fit the scene better.
 
Still, I hope that we get to see Lyra and BP at some point. They’re pretty significant background ponies, if not secondary characters.

Hmmm! If the fans hate the film they can say “It’s not canon as it doesn’t have series background characters!”?
 
Or they wanted to avoid using the same selection of ponies in Ponyville to make it seem it had a larger population.  
Remember the Simpsons Movie? Apparently the entire population could fit in the church.

Why change anything really, I had no problem with the colours before even if it was a bit bright, just a preference thing I guess which I can respect and it looks great either way so whatever.
 
Don’t fully understand why they swapped the characters out, maybe in their heads they contrast better with the scene colour wise and with their changes, but still, the above characters are quite iconic at this point so I hope they do appear in the movie in general.

Why change it?
