Theoretically speaking, it is possible to breed them in captivity, as such, extinction is only a minor concern. Most tuna species are still in the least concern list.

“Extinct” oversells it, but the larger the tuna species the lower their numbers and replacement rate, and some of the popular sushi varieties are heading quickly towards fishery collapse thanks to unsustainable catch levels.
…Can tuna like Skipjack ain’t goin’ anywhere anytime soon, though.
The odds of tuna going extinct are as low as those of Tara Strong respecting a conservative.
