I gotcha bud!
It’s funny, but it makes sense that you can accept a lot of silliness but not that. Even in fantasy things can stretch suspension of disbelief too far.
I mean, you accept the premise because it’s the premise. But just because some rules are okay to break doesn’t mean they all are, or you couldn’t have any kind of cohesive story or tension.
So, just because some rules are different, or broken by realistic standards, doesn’t mean they can all break. It’s still somehow gotta make sense.
Giant battleship pony, okay. But if you add a crew - where do they live, eat, and sleep? Why are some parts of the battleship ponified but not all? I mean, ask yourself what the pony battleship eats - well, battleships are refueled at port, so you may imagine fuel cisterns full of hay and apples (AJ fleet tanker carrying apples for battleship Pones when?). That kind of shows that the pony is an analogy for the thing.
So, like mixing an analogy and the actual thing is weird, and it makes sense that it’s weird so it kinda makes sense that you find that weird. It just looks like you’re thinking of it as ponified battleships, rather than, say, giant ponies wearing battleship saddles that crews operate.
Sorry, I like making sense of things, and how the mind thinks of stuff is really cool :P
Oh, I know that feel! I never even bothered with the anime because it looked like it suffered from exactly what Strike Witches did, you know?
Both series could have been awesome but instead we got way too much focus on moe and cute girls being cute. I want a solid story and cool inspiring stuff, not underage fanservice! ‘Adorable badasses’ is the name of the game here, haha.
I actually figured the ship-pons would be their own self-sustained entities too. A crew for each of them doesn’t really make a lot of sense to me which is ironic, considering literally nothing else in this series does! :D
12”, then. So it’s even smaller than the one that I was surprised by how small it was.
Well, when compared to a pickup truck. I guess we easily just forget how big cars are or something, because the turret seems really big when you walk around the battleship’s deck, but when there’s a truck parked next to it…
It was a really funny/weird and unique sight. I need to get that off my old phone…

What I posted should be a 305mm.
I’d like to carry one of those! 😂
Yep. This is a 16”, 3-gun, turret used on the Iowa, Wisconson, North and South Dakota class battleships in WW2.
I’m really mad my current phone doesn’t have it, but my old phone had this picture I took - I was on a South Dakota put away as a museum ship, and I guess they were servicing something because a pickup truck was parked on the deck right next to one of these turrets. It was more than - or at least about - half as long as the turret.
So the turrets are big, powerful and intense looking, but less than twice as long as a pickup truck.
Maybe I’m just mistaken on how far away Rarity is in the picture, which is kinda doubly neat if that’s the case, but the turrets aren’t more than twice as tall as a person, and they seem a lot bigger in this picture.

You sure about that?
But then again, they aren’t actually ponies, so…
Just my years of naval sims makes that look odd to me to see naval turrets and guns that big xp
