Fluffies are like 4 year old intelligence
Borderline sapient creatures smarter than animals but not quite to a human level. Like cats are around a two year old, and these seem around that level, but can talk and understand a language (beyond tone and basic vocalization types) unlike a cat.
Now imagine they’re much bigger and stronger, and you can teach them to have fun playing “collect the rock” games, and you have a type of slavery you’ll get to see people argue the morality of.
When AI comes along in about 20 years we’ll have this very issue, with the added “they’re just machines” side to the debate on the morality of AI slaves.
It’s all fun and games to make Cortana, Siri or Google do your bidding, now, but what about when they’re actually at “fluffy” levels of intelligence?
Though you could argue they already are…
Personally, I shy from dehumanizing anything that behaves close to sapient, but if AI enjoy doing that… well they know what their purpose in life is, and they want you to want toast.
