It’s a very common thing in movies and TV shows for animated characters to have a speaking voice and a singing voice. It’s not that the regular speaking voices are bad singers, it’s just that they aren’t the best at it. In the same way that being a great artist doesn’t necessarily make you a great writer, its about doing what is best at the time. It’s hard to differentiate a voice for speaking roles, and sometimes the voice artist can’t maintain that characters voice and sing it as well. Think of it as bringing in a closing pitcher. If you’re going to do something, bring in a specialist.

“…but Twilight assures him he’s nothing less than family.”

Bullshit.

So, I’ve always wondered: why don’t some of the voice actresses not sing? Are they not good enough singers?

“and Scootaloo… isn’t related to anyone”
My instinct was to read that as anyone (alive) period.
