I Don’t know the general appeal, but I can tell you why I like it
 
Aside from being arousing, which I’m unsure about actually, It actually seems- if you shed the right light on it- like a very intimate thing. It’s like being in the womb of a mother. Shut off from the outside world, in a place where it’s warm and dark, and in some cases, safe. Those who appreciate the digestion part come off as sadists/masochists to me.

Vore is in the line of the Dom/sub paraphillias. And of course has elements of feeder and inflation, which are whole other can’s of worms. And this is a very, very, very basic explanation.

It’s just a fetish. You don’t choose to be into it, You just find it arousing. No one ever initially thought; “I wonder if consumption would be sexy,” they were just into it. So, it can’t be explained in that manner. There’s probably some kind of deep psychological thing, but you’d probably want to talk to a professional about that.

What is the appeal? the being inside another being? that act of eating? being eaten?  
predator vs prey power struggle?  
Could somepony please actually try and explain it to me.
