Mind control and Brainwashing is best done from the shadows.
Counts for fuck all. We saw how well the town is doing now that she is gone.
Ok, yeah thriving was a bad choice of words. But at the same time they weren’t starving in the streets and it looked like everyone had a place in her somewhat warped vision of a town. That got to count for something.
She led the town in order to accommodate herself. She wasn’t interested in other’s desires unless they directly benefited her. Though, by her design, they never did want anything else and were legitimately happy up until E02, yeah. :3
Thriving? The place was held together by duct-tape and sub-par… everything. Her whole equality shitck held the whole community back.
Well technically she did help them build a thriving, if not quaint, town that seems to be able survive in the middle of no where cut off from the rest of Equestria. I think that’s why twilight is there:

Unless you’re in an RPG, then it’s utterly indispensable advice.
Ex-cult leaders tend not to give the best advice.
Starlight in this sense, has a real experience in running a town and thus, gives better advice.
