Somehow it reminds me of Shrek movies, you know, asshole defeated one movie earlier returns with more power and turns peaceful neighbourhood into his personal dictatorship.

This is actually what I hope they’re going for. Sombre’s a big let down now, but he’s manipulates ponies all season to return himself to power. Then he comes back as a bog standard unicorn and has to use manipulation and deceit.
