You need to look outside of just two games and see their idea of short-term profits. It’s not a good mentality, but it is their mentality.
I am still at a loss as to how buying a studio and then shutting them down would result in ‘short term profits’ especially if said studio was already working on a game.

Yeah, I am perfectly aware of that. And frankly it was a sequel to an even worse game, the only Battlefront-branded game to lack a free play mode of any sort or a story (it was centered entirely on online play).
You do realize that Battlefront 2 was a sequel itself, right?
It was bad enough that EA never made a sequel. And, from the sounds of it, there may never be a Battlefront 3 now that more companies outside of EA can make Star Wars branded games.
Ah. To be fair, that was mostly due to the loot boxes and some with the story.
I was being sarcastic. I was mostly referring to Battlefront 2, which ended up being a rather controversial game.
How so?
Probably the majority of games that I play are sports games. Assuming kart-racing and fight/brawl games count as sports games.
