Much of the light the Moon absorbs and beams down to the surface is actually sunlight bouncing off the surface of the Moon. Nightmare Moon can arrange the stars in the sky, but Daybreaker herself is the living embodiment of a star herself, able to eject coronal matter from her mouth and emit coronas. Plus, if we assume gravity has a correlation to magical ability, in close to mid-range combat, Nightmare Moon is no match for Daybreaker, but in long-distance combat would be more effective. In other words, if my BS is to believed, Daybreaker won because Nightmare Moon chose to fight her head-to-head when she would have been more effective fighting her in space.

I’ve had similar thoughts about Sombra AND Chrysalis AND Nightmare Moon coming from their respective takeover timelines to team up and conquer the primary timeline– With Evil Celestia tossed in on occasion. One such imagined scenario involved Chrysalis and her alt becoming one like in Time Cop, but instead of dying she does what Nail did to Piccolo. X3

@Drama King: She’d definitely be surprised to see a timeline where she was defeated three times. This is of course assuming that “Daybreaker” is another name for Nightmare Star, and also building off of what the “Nightmare” part might imply.
Drama King

What if Daybreaker saw Twilight and Starlight in Ashlands Equestria, and figured out that there existed other Equestrias in other timelines for her to enslave or burn???

And… what if she figured out how to travel between those different timelines, conquering and destroying different Equestrias one by one until she came upon the normal Equestria???

The demoness of the sun vs. the nightmare princess. …Yeah, Nightmare Moon should’ve won the fight. She’s powered by the Night right? And the night is in reality all of outer space which goes on for zillions of miles while the sun is just one big star that is about a million miles wide.

And since the night covers all of the abyss of space then Nightmare Moon should’ve been a million times more powerful than Daybreaker. So she should’ve won the fight easily.

However, since this is in Celestia’s dream that Starlight accidentlly created with a spell gone wrong Daybreaker cheated and won. But was later killed off by Celestia along with Nightmare Moon as soon as she releaized that this was inside her own dream that she’s having.

@Spacefrog
Celestia was able to destroy both Daybreaker and Nightmare Moon in the dream so she can clearly effect it. Also, Luna created the Tantabus a creature able to escape into others dreams and effect them and the real world as well. In For Whom the Sweetie Belle Toils she was able to show Sweetie Belle a what if dream if she didn’t change her attitude. Nothing else I’ve seen in any of the Luna dream walking episodes implies otherwise. Unless I have forgotten something.

Effect =/= create.
There are no reference to how Luna created the tantabus, but it was probably in her own dream and not in someone elses dream
As for the Seetie Belle bit that was a prophetic vision not a creation, which was very obviously signalled when transitioned to.

All of which is completely irrelevant, you still have not come up with any arguments for Celestia creating Daybreaker in the first place, no how or why

Why wouldn’t she be able to create things in dreams exactly? Honestly the fact that you believe everyone but Luna (or someone with her powers like Celestia had) would be able to create something in a shared dream is really baffling to me.

It is only the dreamer who can create something in their own dream.
Luna (and Celestia in the current episode) was awake using her magic to enter from the outside, like she always does.

Yes, I am as my statement is on how what you said was premature and not supported by evidence and that you should wait to ask the staff when the episode airs in America. Not that the show told us 100% for certain something it didn’t at all in any way which is what you were saying.
Did you watch Do Princesses Dream of Magic Sheep? She literally had the entirety of Ponyville sharing the same dream and all creating things in it. Her powers allow others to create things in dreams and share them.

Key phrase here is THEY created it not Luna

We have no way to know if it is completely Glimmers creation or completely Celestia creation or some combination of the two. The only way we can know is to ask the staff on Twitter which can only happen once the episode airs in the US. Please stop acting like the episode gave us definite answers to these things because it doesn’t; unless you want to point out to me where in the episode it states that it is 100% Glimmers creation only.

So you’re allowed to definitive statements, but I am not? :9 (and yes that is what you where doing)
Why would just being there create something in Starlight dream?
I just see no indication, that Celestia created anything.

@AustralPony: Keep in mind that the Daybreaker that we see isn’t actually the real thing, but rather a manifestation of Celestia’s own insecurities.

The Daybreaker we see is 100% Starlights creation, the only influence Celestia use on Starlights dream is banishing the nightmare.

@AustralPony: I thought I was clear when I implied that NMM’s death would lead to Daybreaker existing on a physical plane.

If the wasteland timeline were indeed a result of Daybreaker’s actions, I think it would stand to reason for Daybreaker to physically exist in that timeline if NMM had perished. Assuming that Daybreaker herself is the result of Celestia getting overtaken by the same darkness that caused NMM to exist. And this, of course, is also based on the implication that Daybreaker existed before. Keep in mind that the Daybreaker that we see isn’t actually the real thing, but rather a manifestation of Celestia’s own insecurities.

Granted, the only problem with this is a result of what we don’t know about Daybreaker. But they don’t call it speculation for nothing.

Well, she appears after Celestia enters the Starlight’s dream, so it could be part of Celestia’s mind, not just Starlight’s. At the end, when Starlight ask if the last moment is real, after waking up, Celestia said it was all real, implying that Daybreaker could be a thing.

My problem with this is that Celestia doesn’t look normal, and Nightmare Moon isn’t dead.
What do yo mean? Daybreaker was about to kill NMM if it wasn’t because Celestia stopped them in that scene. And NMM was around in that timeline since the Mane6 wasn’t there to stop her, so Celestia could’ve chose this as last resource in order to stop her (and then go madness with power).
I was thinking about something more along the lines of how Daybreaker would exist in the physical world in the first place.
