Probably the time where the two were created–Ranma 1/2 did show up in 1987, Inuyasha first appeared in 2000. Much had changed fro the 80s to the 2000s, and I would assume Takahashi’s style changed as the times changed. Just my opinion, though.
I will admit, Inuyasha’s writing is a lot better than Ranma 1/2’s writing
If you think about it, Starlight’s backstory might actually be a tribute to Ukyo. Childhood abandoning her as a child, devasting her. Seriously changing her lifes direction.
Ukyo, and Kasumi were the only decent characters of that series, in my opinion.
