If you wanna get technical, Spike had zero interest in Ember besides proving her wrong about friendship. He hasn’t made any goo goo eyes at her.

His chemistry with Starlight comes off as natural because he was groomed by Celestia to do the same thing with Twilight as she went about learning. Not saying Starlight is off limits but again, his interest is more of an advisor to her.

But I’ll be damned if he and Starlight don’t end up in some of the most convenient situations at times.

Yeah, but Rarity is rich and ember is royalty while Starlight is still pretty much living at home with “mom.”
Out of the three, Starlight is probably the least desirable for any young red blooded dragon.

we both know spike has better than rarity,he has ember and starlight now, rarity is a secondary goal, besides he lives in the same castle as starlight.
