While I do like Blackjack for trying to be a better pony in the wasteland despite all the fucked up shit that goes around, it feels like she repeats herself multiple times on how “I must be better.” Multiple times and takes like 3 paragraphs to get through.
 
I do like it when characters go through these mouments of redemption but to me it seems like everytime someone died, (either by Blackjack or near Blackjack) She goes on about how horrible she is and how she’s irridemable and a monster that needs to be killed. Im only 20 chapters in (Somewhere after Deus dies.) and PH is well over 70 so I assume that she might get to the point where she won’t stop the story just to cry “I COULD’VE DONE BETTER” or “I’M A MONSTER!” for multiple paragraphs.

That’s pretty much why I like Horizons. It paints the most realistic, brutal, horrible Wasteland that I’ve ever seen. And when the setting is done right, every thing else feels closer, if that makes any sense.
 
Blackjack tries to fight the Wasteland. She tries to Do Better. I like that. Her personality of perseverance and strength is what makes her attractive.
 
Plus, I get really immersed in books. Especially if it’s a well crafted book. Even if it’s full of suffering and pain. That just makes victory even better.

There were no ‘couples’ in her Stable and they had sex from a young age. Blackjack didn’t really have a concept of an exclusive relationship, casual sex was a common thing back home and stallions were only used for breeding and segregated from the mares.

Eh, if you were brought up not knowing that raping is wrong, actually, being told since birth that raping is normal and you are supposed to do it by law, and nobody around you would question it, then rape would be like eating bread to you.
