That's pretty much why I like Horizons. It paints the most realistic, brutal, horrible Wasteland that I've ever seen. And when the setting is done right, every thing else feels closer, if that makes any sense.
Blackjack tries to fight the Wasteland. She tries to Do Better. I like that.
Her personality of perseverance and strength is what makes her attractive.
Plus, I get really immersed in books. Especially if it's a well crafted book. Even if it's full of suffering and pain. That just makes victory even better.
