Did they really have to go and say that the stuff they do is cringy to “The Pros”. I think what matters is the quality of the work, not the source material it is based on.
Second Post:
Again, it doesn’t matter what the source of your animation is, but by the QUALITY of it. I mean, by that logic, everyone would be saying that his Undertale Animation would be cringe because of its Fanbase
Third Post:
You know what, that’s fine. You are allowed to do other works too, cause at the end of the day, YOU are the animator and YOU get to do what you like. I just don’t think you have to view the whole pony thing as a “Big reps no take sewiously” bullshit.
Also, Fuck C and D, just post it somewhere else. This is why Hasbro and other companies (CoughHackNINTENDOCouchHack) need to stop having their genitals in a vice grip and realize people just want to make stuff for fun based on IP’s for others enjoyment, not profit.
It’s probably better this way, rather than half-ass it even after you no longer care for the source material but still feel obligated to finish it. (COUGH SILLYFILLYSTUDIOS COUGH)
Alright I see your point I guess but still, I hate it when people leave a job undone. I would suggest take a long break, then finish it and then be done with it and the fandom for good at least but maybe that’s just me * shrugs *.
They’ve been finishing it for like two years now, dude. They’d like to actually get a job in the industry at some point.
Im aware of that and their other work, and i would be perfectly happy with them even making one fan animation a year or any. But now it will probably be zero since THEY burned themselves out by trying to do just pony and then regreting it. No one forced them to do it like no one can force them now to return or anything.
An appeal to emotions is not any kind of answer to my “who forced them” but then again we both know it was they themselves who did it, you can blame rabid fans all you like but they have a minimal to no influence in this whatsoever since the choince is always in the creator.
What is forcing them to confine themselves to Pony though?
Oh, sure, they’ll just work extra projects into their copious amounts of free time. Go watch Children Of The Night. I don’t care if you like it or not, go watch it.
Two people animated that.
What is forcing them to confine themselves to Pony though? Besides what was probably their fear that their patreon bux would dry up if they didnt?
If that was the case, we see the result now, them completely abandoning it just to move on.
Same for most artists who decide to burn the bridge when they leave, if the criticism of some is enough for them to crack how well would they do in a job when faced with criticism from the most important person, the one paying them.
Jeebus wept, y’all– do you think the rabid sense of entitlement some fans have about free content mightasorta had something to do with their decision as well? Artists bust their asses making something cool and then get dumped on because they– GASP!– want to actually have a real day job doing it someday, and people wonder why so many of them abandon the fandom entirely when they go.
@LeoNero
I don’t know what serious Animation are they even talking about exactly? Is there a big named animation studio doing some serious animation projects that also doesn’t do kids stuff all the time too? Honestly, I have a feeling that they just didn’t diversity their portfolio enough and thought they could get by on just MLP animations. If so that is kind of dumb on their part.
But who knows I mean the from what I have heard the Animation industry does have it’s weird and contradictory standards.

There’s a third option. Separate your bucking personal life and work. If you are kind of person that’s going to move to tundra just because your boss decided to transfer you there, I pity you.
Ok, but here the question isn’t the style but the subject, so the moral isn’t exactly applicable.
Also, I do think that between many of those that consider themselves makers of Art, technique isn’t their main worry.
Finally, forcing yourself to draw in other styles is probably a good exercise for your technique.
That reminded me of one old story. Young artist did some work, some poor man posed for him. He improved his own style. Then, some big wig contacted him to do portrait of his daughter. Daughter didn’t care for his style, she wanted him to draw as generic as possible. So, he had two option: continue to stifle his style and draw big wigs, or flourish without rich men’s support and draw some poor man. He ended up working for big wigs, become successful recognized artist. One day, he visited some gallery of some young artist. This was a wake up call: young artist had better talent than he. He run to his studio, trying to wake his talent, but it was too late: he killed own talent a long time ago. He ended up tearing all his paining in despair.
Yes, if anything, they want that making animations about ponies to be regarded in the same level of recognition than doing an animation about Batman, or any pop character.
Well they’re putting the term in quotes and calling it a double standard… I don’t think they agree with it, they’re just afraid that others think that way.
I can’t speak for him. But last time I heard him discussing doing pony in his stream, it sounded like he’d had to defend his decision to make content for this fandom. I remember he repeated a rather indignant retort along the lines of “I’m sorry, do I tell you what you should do in your spare time?” or some such.
@LeoNero
And like that, I lost respect for them.

“I need to stop working on this cringey kiddy stuff to ever be taken seriously as a real serious animator.”
Well, fuck you too.
Also this isn’t even the first time he’s canceled a project.
Still, better to do it this way instead of forcing yourself to continue working on something that’s based on a thing you no longer enjoy, leading to a mediocre final product. (COUGH SillyFillyStudios COUGH)
I think people just like to downvote things that doesn’t please them.
