Indeed - I reckoned Twilight’s daughter by Shining was incredibly powerful, but in some ways like a savant in that her method of understanding magic is very unorthodox and she doesn’t “book learn” magic very well, to her mother’s chagrin. Somewhat like how I imagine Starlight to work, where she’s very powerful but her main source of skill is that she sees solutions and methods that don’t occur to other ponies.
…I also went and picked out an appearance for her… sadly it’s not on Derpibooru for some reason, and since the artist doesn’t use this design anymore (having moved on to different next-gen interpretations) I’m hesitant to upload it, at least until I ask. http://fav.me/d97tgtb I wouldn’t normally have picked out another person’s next-gen design like that, but when the artist doesn’t specify who the father is, one jumps to conclusions. :P

I tend to be interested in “next-gen” characters as well, though if they’re the products of a pairing I don’t care for, I likewise won’t care as much - and I’m always annoyed when a next-gen character is a splice of their parents appearances, looking more like a fusion than a child. But I have put thought into what a child of Twilight and Shining would be like…
