I don’t care much about De Lancie since i’m a fan of Discord and De Lancie isn’t a character in the universe. I would be okay with Discord having a new voice and even get a younger version of his voice for Equestria Girls, since he would be most likely a teenager just like the 1000+ year old sirens.
That is certainly an impressive amount of backtracking and qualification-after-the-fact.
Shining Armor and Big Mac are barely characters at all. Every other male adult isn’t there longer than one episode. Discord and Spike are the only one getting focus and story arcs. And Spike is not an adult.
Discord is the only adult male character on the show
I’m afraid I’m going to have to challenge your research on this point, Old Chap.
lol you can say that about every character, especially Dash, Pinkie and Spike. But characterisation shoudn’t be blamed on anyone else than shitty writing and writers, if that was the case Spike would have been removed after S5. Discord is the only adult male character on the show. Target audience cares more about him than any Princess or mane6. His episodes are still either on the middle of best overall episode quality(Dungeon&Discords, Make New Friends but keep Discord) or in the top 10 (Return of Harmony, Twilight Kingdom).
Alternatively, just have someone turn him back into a statue, for good this time.
At least make him get abducted in Season 7 premiere and missing until the finale. It would explain his dissappearing and even help Fluttershy to build up her character. He have absolutely no episodes of Fluttershy that revolve around Discord, we know nothing about her feeling toward him. All their episodes beside KcaFo are written from Discord perspective. They could make an episode explaining on why out of all charactersm she enjoy him the most. And without having Discord on screen stealing all the attention.
No it doesn’t. In order to be a celebrity, you need to be famous, and being well known among a few fandoms doesn’t count, fame is mainstream unless otherwise stated.
Playing the role of a very important character, and delivering exceptional performance does, though.
Well at least he’s being honest instead of teasing shit.
High end? Having a role on star trek doesn’t make one a celebrity.
Either way, the man’s right. As much as I enjoy Discord as a character, neither his presence nor absence makes or breaks an episode’s quality for me. As we’ve seen many times, if DHX and the writers need to invent a new character to fill the void he’d leave, they have always excelled at introducing new lovable denizens to the cast.
Then again, this is Discord’s VA, so he’s probably keeping in character to surprise us.
Probably.
