A fish that is a companion to a bunch of seaponies/mermaids? Doesn’t sound familiar to anyone? Also, he has nearly the same shape as Flounder. And I’m not just talking about fish shaped, his size and width looks very similar. So forgive me if the first thought that enters my mind when I look at this picture or any picture of Spike as a pufferfish is The Little Mermaid.
And I’m not the only one who saw this connection!

The difference is what you personally like apparently. And I mean YOU specifically.

Plus fish characters were not exactly invented with Disney’s The Little Mermaid.
Unless he’s almost exactly the same as Flounder, just being a fish doesn’t make pufferfish Spike a rip off.
If that was all there is to it then every cartoon fish to come about after him is a ripoff of Flounder.
