Because what the pic is referring to is still happening.
@Derpy Whooves
Wait, are you sayin’ y’all are allowing The Politics Thread again?Oh, I think you’re just saying “asking about a good site to discuss politics”, not actually discussing politics in the forums…
Edited
Sounds like a great idea for a thread in the forums.
Granted, I don’t take it quite this far, but I do think you will reap what you sow, and ignorance is one of the many roads to downfall.
But what can we do? It actually isn’t all that hard. Just talk. Get informed, inform others, and encourage informed people to vote and contribute to their causes.
If you leave it to the media to tell the stories then the media becomes god.
If you don’t talk, then you’re leaving it to ignorance.
… though one big incident every few months isn’t the end of the world, I do worry about what the future holds. There have been cases of immigrants outbreeding native populations and it was called genocide, but when the
arabschangelings do it inEuropeEquestria they’re the oppressed ones.Everyone calls them
Syrian refugeesrefugees from the fall of Chrysalis, but when you don’t check where they come from, most end up coming from other places.Honestly I think the real solution to immigration is to fix the Middle East, but every time we come close all the bleeding hearts cry so hard we stop helping them, pull out, and ISIS happens.
We just need to stick around to rebuild and raise a generation with western values. That de-Nazi’d Germany and de-Imperialized Japan, now they’re free, democratic societies and our close allies.

“I’m really just here to admire that spiffy hat Starlight’s wearing. Because that is a spiffy hat.”
If a man have an ear, let him hear; this right here is what is wrong with our societies. This right here is why nothing will change. This right here is why we are doomed to forever be lambs to the slaughter.
Ignorant people who purposely distance themselves from serious issues, treating it as a joke, and yet claim they know better than you about them all.
This one thinks that because it hasn’t happened to him yet, it doesn’t matter, and it is this exact sort of nihilistic, cynical, indifferent, self-centered cowardice that will result in our downfall.
We live in an entitled age where everyone has their faces stuck in an Iphone, pasting their narcissism endlessly on their social media pages.
The time has come to either wake up, or risk being killed in your sleep.

And we’re not even allowed to talk about it, because recognizing the problems in the world is irrelevant to our bread and circuses, and where it is relevant, political correctness says we’re evil demons for even saying there’s a problem.
You gotta love the politicians that still say we need this immigration, though. The people of Germany, France and England deal with the fallout wile they live in their gated communities and have their personal bodyguards, saying how we really have nothing to fear from the policies they enact.
Because neither really interest me at all, and all the ranting in the world isn’t really going to convince me to view those ideas as anything other than misguided, disappointing, and borderline contemptible.
Besides, I’m really just here to admire that spiffy hat Starlight’s wearing. Because that is a spiffy hat.
Our governments have readily renounced its one true original directive: To safeguard and protect the well-being of its citizens. “For what?” One might ask. “Is it for the greater global good?” Another might ply. “Perhaps it’s an immense act of charity for which we, despite all the carnage wrought upon us day by day, should feel grateful?” Yet another may suggest.
The answer to all the above is, “NO!” for the true reason is fear, the fear of being called a racist, a bigot, a xenophobe, or Islamophobe.
We are being systematically sacrificed upon the altar of political correctness, and if it doesn’t change, we will witness the end of higher civilization as we know it.
How’s that one for you?
I always dink around on my phone a bit even after I shut off my laptop…
It’s immigration policy. As an aside the wall is fine. Now if it became the focus, maybe, but even then, we could just go back on-topic as pagan said. And all that is if, for the sake of argument immigration policy wasn’t relevant to what’s happening to Europe with regards to the ceaseless terrorist massacres.
On a pic about a terrorist attack, you gotta talk about the right terrorist attack or things will devolve into anarchy and the next thing you know, the comment section is clogged with navy seal copy pasta’s.

We could’ve just moved it back on topic, it was a slight diversion. It’s not like every other comment section doesn’t do the same thing, if diverging even slightly is enough to ban the conversation altogether there would be no comments.
Don’t forget solar roadways … can’t wait to hear how that’s on topic.
“And if you can’t talk about the image in its comments “
Do you want to map out how building a wall around America is directly related to a terrorist attack in Germany from almost half a year ago? Because that’s what the comments were about when I came in here.
If you can explain how this image is about that I’d love to see where I missed it.
Edited
Um…Damn, that sure is a great hat.

The thing with the Politics Thread is that people could always go there and continue it, and it’s a forum thread on an image site.
But allowing comments to be about the image is just being sensible. Images get old and it dies off, and in general should be a lot less of a big discussion if only politics related to the image are allowed.
In the end, though, it’ll never feel right to not be able to comment on the thing that the entire image itself is a commentary on.
But anyways, I’m sorry about the trouble, but it’s really something that just doesn’t sit right to impose such restrictions when it’s the topic the entire image is about. Though it’s better than locking comments altogether, since clearly that would be even worse.
And if you can’t talk about the image in its comments because it makes work for mods, then how long until we can’t do other things that make work for mods? Do we still have a ban on Princess Twilight discussion from the fallout from that fandom explosion? It’s no more relevant to the site’s purpose than pony images.
Credit goes to the site and its mods for at least talking about it instead of just dropping bans, though, like some communities might.
But I’m off for the night. I got all kinda stuff tomorrow, so the discussion has been pretty real-time but it’ll take a little break for now…

I’m just messing with ya. :3
We tried limiting them to one place with the Politics thread.
It didn’t help.
If you’re that desperate to discuss them again, you can make a thread asking about it in site and policy. But I would not be surprised if the answer was still “no”.
What? That was a compliment. You admitted the authorities should’ve taken the reports seriously and stuff.
@Zeb
Anyways, heck, if I could solely moderate a political thread I’d be willing to do that if it’d mean being allowed to have one again, though I couldn’t exactly gaurantee more than an hour a day or anything. Or even just political comments. I mean, wouldn’t it make sense to at least only allow them on images about politics, like this one?
HEY!
@Cirrus Light
I was gonna say if it didn’t cost too much then may be acceptable with the added screening but apparently I can’t. :(
