But they all still live in a practical death-world. You’d think their equivalent of a standing army would be better trained to handle threats.

Whether you love or hate the wedding episodes, the whole “Royal Guard goes down like chumps” was really goddamn stupid. These guys are supposed to defend the ponies in a world full of dragons, hydras, and other crazy shit, yet they can’t even put up a fight against some bug ponies? Gimme a break.
Yeah, I still stand by how a bunch of young mares can be a better defense of fighting changelings than guards, even considering the caught off guard (heh) part.
Seeing how close they are to the Everfree Forest and whatnot, I imagine some, if not most, ponies would have to have some balls/ovaries to defend their townspone.
I like the idea of minuteponies, though. Although it seems like their first reaction is to flee in terror.
Still neat, though.
I just think pre-pilot Celestia did her stuff like how most of us would play a rater difficult video game.
Also, pegasi for weather control.
I think your first two points go kinda hand in hand with the weather stuff, and even then, it’s explained in the show that unicorns can do sun moving shenanigans, it’s just more time consuming. And I don’t think she has to control every part of Equestria. Most of it seems void of crime, and the denizens could be okay with a 24/7 watching.
I agree with the hoers sacrifice, though. No offense to him.
I mean, that’s pretty much the crux of my headcanon. There’s no possible way she was truly, honestly happy with her life. Maybe not balls-out suffering from profound depression, but hardly the happiest pony in Equestria either.
And yeah, if we don’t get a Celestia episode I’m ritualistically sacrificing Professor of Hoers.

Yeah, no kidding. Being cooped up in Canterlot all day has to be pretty dull. Maybe she makes friends with some of the guards or something.

I just want a Celestia episode, period. She’s the most prominent secondary character in the show, you’d think the writers would want to expand her character a little more.
I still firmly believe that the friendship reports are as much for Celestia as they are for the others. She lives vicariously through Twilight, in the hopes that she might learn to live as fully as she does.
I thought the same thing. We have really depressing headcanons.
