excatly. maybe he is a tiny bit slimy from the looks of him but he is not antagonistc.

Yeah people forget that no matter how cool the show makes him look, he’s still canonically a ruthless businessman.
And yet, when a comic shows him simply running for mayor on the platform of “shaking things up with fresh ideas and vision” (which is how his character was shown in the flashback of Where the Apple Lies when he talks about getting to run his family store), he’s suddenly an “OOC evil Trump pony”.

Well except for that time in his first episode where explains that his business got so successful by going the Walmart route of running out small businesses.
Or that time in a recent episode when he threatened to sever all ties with the Apple family over a single experimental business deal. Despite A) he only made a deal with Applejack, who explicitly wasn’t the one running the family business and B) said deal wasn’t even formalized yet.
Filthy in show has never deliberately screwed ponies over.
If they did that on Princess Twilight’s property, that dynamite will somehow end up someplace uncomfortable.
Yeah… There’s fulfilling your promises, and then there is violating someone’s property rights. Pretty sure Shy owns the land they are building on.

I never expected this level of character change. All his show appearences have him being a pretty damn decent fellow.
Have you ever read an MLP IDW comic before?
This feels like character assasination for the sake of a plot.
