The so-called “Sonic & MLP fan rivalry” is further strange, as many bronies actually do like the Sonic series too, and the Sonic thread in the Derpibooru forums is practically drama-free, and the Sonic fans there are getting along fine.
I’ve seen Derpi users, and bronies on other sites bash other fandoms like “Stephen Universe,” (there was a brief drama war between said both fandoms dubbed the “Baby Wars”) as well as the furry fandom, (used to be so bad that most bronies wouldn’t tolerate “anthro’ pony art,” in fear of being labelled “furries”) and such.
I have seen a few bash Mario, and Nintendo fans, as well. Though, due to the Sonic series’ more “controversial quality,” Sonic’s become an easier target, and has been the internet’s punching bag for over 10 years now. Especially, on many gamer critic websites/magazines like IGN & Game Informer. The only media sources with more “fair” or even “positive” opinions on Sonic are Nintendo Power magazine, (which sadly ended years ago) and Andre of “Black Nerd Comedy.” Andre even jokingly called himself a “hipster Sonic fan” for liking “Rise of Lyric.” (The most negatively-received Sonic game sense StH2006.)
Regardless, Sonic still maintains a loyal fanbase, has a new TV show, his comic book is still going, (after 20 years!) has 2 promising upcoming games, and at this point is more “alive” then Banjo Kazooie, Megaman, & Bomberman are. (I miss them…)

Ouch. The spam really hurts Derpibooru. They probably used homophobic slurs and called Sonic fans “manchildren,” which is also what some rabid Sonic fans did to MLP fans. They historically had a rivalry on DeviantArt. The anti-Sonic image macros are mouthpieces used to present hateful opinions about Sonic, which is against the rules because throwing one or two ponies in doesn’t make an anti-Sonic opinion pony related.

Sonic is probably the only fandom that I’ve seen Derpibooru users bash. It’s pathetic how everyone leaves Mario alone and uses Sonic as a punching bag, even though the two franchises are very similar. In fact, people intentionally make crappy Sonic+Dash art just so they can get downvotes, and try to start shit.

I remember that dupe flood, it was actually way worse then the “Sonic,” or “Chikkun face” floods, which is why he got in trouble. The mass-downvoters get in trouble too, I think I remember a few rabid character-haters being around too, and not just in regards to Flash.
A few Sonic haters did get in trouble too, for spamming hate comments on Sonic pics, anti-Sonic image macros, and such, I recall.
I always find it funny when I see people here bashing the Sonic fandom, (which is a bit insulting & disrespectful to the Sonic fans here) because at this point the brony/MLP fandom is really no better, and does alot of the same things they do. (In fact, lately I’m seeing less drama, and such from the Sonic fans.)
Bashing other fandoms to make ourselves seem better is just going to make us look worse.
PROTIP: Mass downvoting of Sonic images will get people in trouble with the mods. The Sonic hate on Derpibooru is stupid. It makes me so mad, I can just go cans.wav! Back in Ponibooru, there were Rabid Idiot Brony floods all the damn time. These image macros insult my intelligence. Later, on Derpibooru, Kein used about 200 dupe accounts to upload a shitload of dupes of >>298556, and this event was hereby known as Nightmare Dupe. In fact, The Smiling Pony gave us a screenshot to show just how bad the mass duping was. He emphasized the duping by forcing a juxtaposition and using Inspect Element to change Derpibooru to Dupebooru. There was this one Flash Sentry hater who used 457, if not more dupe accounts to mass downvote Flash Sentry images because Flash stole his waifu or something. He then told artists they “should be ashamed of drawing Flash Sentry because most people hate that ‘waifu stealer,’” when really he is just about the only one who really hates Flash Sentry. Just check the comments section of >>738925 (WARNING:EXPLICIT IMAGE).
Perhaps, but not like we can stop people from downvoting them, (a few Sonic haters even admitted >>974474 they love mass-downvoting Sonic pics regardless of their quality) which is just going to encourage said uploader to create more floods if that’s what he wants.

Well, alot of people have been complaining about the Sonic floods that still occasionally pop up, even those that like the Sonic series. It’s likely in a few weeks he’ll start it up again, so just brace yourselves for that.
Reminds me of the old monthly “chikkun face” upload floods we used to get, but they eventually stopped.
It’s all a question of whether it’s a problem. In the past, when people have uploaded images a minute for an hour straight they’ve been asked to stop. In other cases, 100 images a day is no problem because the site was swimming in other kinds of posts and they didn’t even really show up by comparison.
It all depends on what else is going on. So, it’s hard to say “what is too much”.
But, if we start getting reports, or if one of us notices that the entire front page is one person’s uploads, then that is a problem. In this case, it had risen to problem levels and we were peeling back the layers of who the uploader was and looking for Rule #3 pr Rule #6 problems, but as we were talking about what if anything should be done, they stopped.
Problem solved.
And, look! A nice image.

No need to rub my face in it, but I’ll see what I can do. Still, it’d be impossible to prove what their intent is.
The only solution I can come up with is to limit the amount of uploads a person can put up in a day, but then that would raise a problem when it comes to the need of archiving many many episode screenshots, when a new ep’ comes out, and such. So it might create new problems.
Anything we might do about “him” would have prevented this image that you like from being uploaded. So now we have a baby with the bathwater problem.
If you think they are breaking a rule, please report it. Especially if you have evidence that they are just doing it to annoy people. And if there are any individual images from this set still on the site that you think are Rule #3, report them as well.
So, it’s still one person doing all this? I find that impressive actually considering in less then a 24-hour period he managed to find upload that many pics.
Is there anything the admins can do about him? It’s obvious he’s doing it just to annoy people, and even the Sonic fans here are getting tired of the flood.

Eh, honestly the Sonic fandom is no worse then this one. In fact, I could go on about how similar they both are.
As for the games, despite their ups & downs, I can stil think of quite a few I genuinely enjoyed even after the Sega Genesis “golden age.”

I think he went downhill a bit earlier than that. At least Sonic Mania looks good. Maybe the 2017 one will be good too.
sigh, I miss the good ole’ days when Sonic used to be cool. Then came the fandom.. and Sonic Boom The Rise Of Lyric.
I think the volume of images contributed to it - 90 images in 6 hours is a lot for a crossover.
Or, anything, actually.
Even a purely pony series will start getting more and more downvotes if it’s all folks see, page after page after page.
Here in our wonderful Derpibooru community, the vast majority of Sonic posts are guaranteed to be mass downvoted, regardless of artistic quality.
Even more so if Rainbow Dash is in it.
