Description
Looks like we’re not getting a full EqG movie next year, but three “specials.”

So they said the special are 21 minutes recently
Which put it to a total oh 1 H and 4 minutes
It’s shriveling indeed
Pfft, you can’t shove my awesome self into a Pokeball! :P
Anyway, I didn’t see this until now, since I’m not exactly “quick” anymore on checking posts I’m subscribed to/replied on on anywhere, but especially here. I wasn’t saying EqG isn’t canon, merely saying I dunno if the full-length feature film with the seaponies and regular pony cast will be considered canon, though I’d like to assume it is!
Though now that you said it: they called EqG a spin-off RIGHT HERE IN THIS POST. And with the introduction of that world’s Twilight into the group, it does seem like it’s at a point where it could stand on its own; except for the whole same cast we know and love pretty much, plus the whole “magic” thing that leaked over from Equestria, first from Sunset bringing it and now from the statue (that I assumed would be fixed/replaced by the latest movie, but apparently not… something that didn’t bug me as much as one other thing I wasn’t fond of, which was not seeing the CMC in their EqG forms even once in Legend of Everfree; despite knowing they’re younger than the main cast, they were in the other films to some degree, even if I don’t recall them speaking in Friendship Games so I’d figured we’d see them, despite seeing all the previews a while back with none of them in any of those), so I definitely don’t think it can be considered canon WITH the official series, despite the connection they have.
I would love for it to be considered “canon”, if they did something with Sunset going back to her REAL home of Equestria and/or referenced anything about it in the official series. But since they never do and the fact that I don’t think Hasbro wants to lump humans in with the ponies, it’s considered a spin-off/non-canonical for that reason. But I dunno if you’ll take my opinion of what I’m saying about EqG with a grain of salt, “noobiest” brony. snickers And trust me, I’ve enjoyed each one of those films, even if they have again, taken it to a point where it seems like Twilight and Spike won’t ever need to come back (assumingly, unless the revelation of events in the latest movie reach an ultimate boiling point where Twilight will need to come back eventually, if it puts Equestria at risk too) and where the Flashlight ship that many people despise seems no longer viable… ;( At least, in the EqG world, but there was a Flash Sentry we also saw in the pony world, eh?
>implying EqG isnt canon
Back in the Pokeball, you.
But I digress… after spoiling the remaining episodes for myself by seeing them early, I’m curious to see how Season 7 kicks off and all the other things MLP has in store next year!
What’s there to talk about season 7? It’s going to be more of the same. Three specials instead of one movie is something actually different
Where do you get the definition of “special” as “60 minutes (with commercials)”? For as long as I’ve been living, “30 minutes (with commercials)” have outnumbered the longer ones by probably a factor of 2 to 1.
@Itsthinking
I think that BP is going a little beyond hoping FiM gets more attention than EqG.
@Itsthinking
Quoting an earlier comment from @Background Human, which I think has some reasonable speculation on that decision:
>implying that it would not be obvious
now, go back to 2013
Was I the only one who expected Season 7 to come? Were y’all over here frantically wondering if S6 was the last season of pony? Season 7 was given for me; three EqG specials was not.
It is is indeed exciting.
>All you talk is EQG

It’s better if you can spread that out all year long. Looks better in the quarterly reports.
Yeah you do, because it gives you more fucking money.
They’re both advertisements for toy lines whose consumables and signage occupy the same shelves in a lot of stores. If you’re going to hit Target and Toys R Us with a big movie release, you don’t want them filling their shelves with DVDs and products related to the direct-to-TV stuff.
How would a movie that targets a different demographic and wouldn’t even get a theater release cannibalize the MLP movie?
Edited
Assets are in the box, so you don’t have to have a full movie budget to justify the staff, and lower investment = optimum ROI.
Besides, a full movie would cannibalize the MLP movie.
As long as they’re making money off of it, it will stay on the air for who knows how long.
Nevermind, they got it.
I sent an email to EQD a few hours ago…they never saw it.
Maybe. My guess is that they would be hour long productions, ie roughly two episodes each.
