I think the fact that this is the first time I’ve learned that Rarity’s coat has any slight blue/cyan shows that holy shit people it doesn’t actually matter.

Trivial matters being the subject of a pony argument? That’s unheard of!

saying “that’s not white it’s incredibly light grey” is like saying “that’s not clean, it’s just incredibly unmessy.”

This has gotten stupid. You want to be like that? OK. Rarity’s a Flash object. She was created on a computer. From show assets, her coat’s hex color code is #ebeef0. Her RGB value is R235 G238 B240. White is #ffffff and R255 G255 B255.

Hey, look at that. A difference. She’s not actually white. She translates to very light grey, exactly like I said. Whether you want to call it a color or not.

And with that, I’m done.

Technically, turning Rarity grey is a decrease in value since grey and white both have no saturation, and over-saturated Rarity is actually cyan thanks to a very slight tint she has…
Dang it, now you’ve got me doing it.

But that’s my point, she’s not actually white. She’s incredibly light grey. She appears to be white, just like Vinyl Scratch. But Scratch is actually yellow. Extremely, extremely light yellow. If you open up her official asset and use a color dropper on her, it’ll show exactly where in the color spectrum it falls.

Look at Rarity’s outline. It’s light grey. I think they just decreased the saturation to hit white(ish) when doing her design. I’ve got products where they oversaturated the printed colors and she’s literally light grey, with Celestia being light pink (this is very common for her, actually.)

You example is especially baffling considering she’s actually light pink.

Much like Vinyl Scratch, who is actually in the yellow spectrum, her saturation is cranked so far down she’s operationally white, again like Scratch.

By the exact same token, if you take Rarity and turn her coat saturation up, she turns grey. But ask people what color she is and you’ll of course get white.

The only time you’ll see the “light pink” Celestia and “grey” Rarity are on products where the company oversaturated the colors in printing.

Have you considered that other people keep running into these threads where people keep insisting on strict logic in a cartoon and feeling just as frustrated?

It’s not about strict logic. The exchanges are often as thus:

Person A: “Celestia’s coat color is white.”
Person B: (Refutation based on headcanon or personal opinion)
Person C: “No it isn’t! She represents the sun and since sunlight contains all the colors then her coat is technically all colors!

I’ve seen arguments, and have been in arguments, just as ridiculous. It doesn’t have to be based around strict logic in a cartoon.

We know

Then, my dear anonymously-posting BP, it should be fairly obvious why it would be impossible.

I always seem to get these kind of threads. A small, offhanded comment ends up in a multi-reply thread where one or more people try to argue against logic.
