I’m pretty meh towards Flash I don’t hate him but I don’t like him that much either but you can’t post an image or say anything about him without someone showing up and saying you’re not allowed to like him or have any positive opinion like they’re some damn thought police, they use the same argument everytime and REFUSE to use filters to just block Flash images but instead of leaving others to like what they like they have to bitch on every image that has anything to do with Flash and it’s beyond annoying and childish.

Note: I’m not hate Flash Sentry but not catches my attention as it’s irrelevant in the movies so far.

To be fair, the people chosen to represent Canterlot High for the Friendship Games were chosen by popularity, probably in a poll. Why was Derpy there? The Mane 7 proceeded to the next half of the academics round and Microchip didn’t. Were the Mane 7 really more intelligent than Microchip? They seemed to do very poorly in the spelling round.
Actually it does, unless you’ve forgotten, the 100tg episode easily proved that ideas like that MATTTER to the writers.
And if you’re seriously gonna act like he’s “less than charismatic and interesting to speculate about” even after everything I brought up about him, then you have absolutely no right to act judgmental, especially when you’d be singing a different tune if he was introduced as a female, becuase “OMG GIRL-ON-GIRL IS HAWT!!”
Face it, you don’t hate him because he’s underdeveloped, you hate him because you’re too LAZY to think up something that would make him interesting, and hating him is the easy way for you.
The really sad part is that you make it super obvious that you’re from 4chan that you make us roll our eyes all the way up on the roof. And don’t kid yourself, even if he wasn’t underdeveloped, you would still hate him because in 2013 all of you flash haters were like “no! boyfriends! EqG sucks! the fandom is dying!”.
You not getting it yet again, me coming up with a headcanon personality for him won’t change a thing in the canon. People coming up with personalities for background ponies mainly did that because said characters was somewhat intriguing, charismatic and interesting to speculate about, flash, let’s just say less than charismatic and interesting to speculate about. It’s not even saying that flash was not just some background character, he was supposed to be vital supportive character, so there is really no excuse for him for being so underdeveloped by the staff.
It’s not just “simple as that”, considering the fact that only the Police Officer and little brother parts are mainly headcanons, the other facts I brought up are taken from actual parts of the series itself. And at least we’re bringing up SOMETHING to work off of instead of giving up and acting there’s nothing that can be used to give him more personality. Heck we do it to main characters like Rainbow Dash, Luna, Scootaloo, and Sweetie Belle. Everyone assumes that Scoots is an orphan, Sweetie Belle is Button Mash’s special somepony, Luna is a binge gamer, and Rainbow Dash is a lesbian with a cider addiction.
So no, it’s not just “a mantra of flash fans to convince themselves”, it’s us bringing up small facts and using them to give a character more depth and make him interesting. Y’know, what we’ve done for EVERY SINGLE BACKGROUND CHARACTER.
As Bronies we’ve been nitpicking small aspects of several characters and giving them their own personalities since the show started, so to whine about Flash being bland is not only lazy, but also hypocritical. If we can nitpick and speculate about various characters in the franchise and give them their own personality or add onto their character then Flash is no exception. Him being “bland” is just a petty excuse used by lazy hypocrites who are too stubborn to be imaginative when it comes to this character, and that’s just stupid.
It really bugs me that we come from a fandom where we can take a character that sits differently and make her into a human obsessed nut, a character with an animation error on her eyes and make her into a muffin obsessed ditz, a DJ that had less than two seconds of screentime and make her a party animal that’s dating that one mare from the gala episode, or that one gaming colt that had a two second cameo and make him Sweetie Belle’s love interest.
And yet when one character pops up and ends up being the object of the main character’s affections he suddenly “bland” and the bane of the fandom’s existence?! The fact that no one even tries to give him a personality like we’ve done with every other background character in the series is what pisses me off.
Flash-hate is pointless, hypocritical, and just plain STUPID.
Yeah I’ve seen this pasta before, more looks like a mantra of flash fans to convince themselves that they liking flash for a reason.

Okay look it’s not my or your job to make character interesting, it’s writers job, all headcanons you make about him is still just your headcanons, last word is always behind the show staff, and if the writers fail to make character interesting for 4 god damn movies I just can’t find a reason to like this character, simple as that.
Here’s a few more facts about him:
Flash has a sense of justice as he went to clear Twilight’s name when Sunset framed her. And considering that he used to be Sunset’s boyfriend, that means he memorized and knows exactly how she operates.
He also dumped Sunset despite everyone in the school being afraid of her so he clearly wasn’t afraid of a bully or at the very least knows how to spot a bad influence.
He’s a gentleman, a bit of a music nerd and a clutz.
He has a few character flaws like him not being able to cook (if Friendship Games is any indication), having a bit of an ego when it comes to his music (Banner Day is a good example of that) to the point of naming the band after himself (Flash Drive)… not unlike Rainbow Dash.
He’s apparently good friends with Sandlewood, Micro Chips, Lyra and Bonbon.
Was considered smart/talented/athletic enough to be picked for the Friendship Games.
And here’s an interesting thought: If he’s a Royal Guard in the pony world, that could be carried over to his human counterpart in the form of him wanting to be a police officer.
Plus there has been a few speculations on him having a younger brother that’s been seen in a few episodes:

One, he helped Twilight in exactly one difficult situation in finding blackmail photos, that’s it. Looks like you making up the rest of helpful cases yourself. Flash in such a blank state that you can pretend he’s anything.
I don’t pretend to have reasons to hate him, I can’t exactly find any reason to like him.

Too many arguments end that way these days. It’s like playing chess with a pigeon, it doesn’t matter how good you are at chess, the pigeon is just going to knock all the pieces over, shit on the board and strut around triumphantly.
No point in trying to argue with them Flash haters always have the same argument “He stole my waifu!” and “He has a nice car and plays in a band therefore he sucks period” while ignoring everything else he did, no matter how much evidence you provide they’ll just repeat those two things over and over again till you get bored and leave and then they’ll declare themselves the “winner”.
Flash proved to be very kind, helpful and loyal, and helped Twilight out of several difficult situations. You are pretending to have reasons to hate the character, but it looks like you don’t. Why bring up his attractiveness? It’s also possible you might be envious of attractive people.
