First time I’ve ever made a gif (I think). Think it starts a little too early. Welp. I did it at least.
 
Also I used “buckball unicorn” because that’s what was being used in the credits. Yeah. I’m not too creative. :V

Keep in mind that Snips and he are in Cheerilee’s class. Back in season 1, Sweetie Belle couldn’t do jack in magic, but Snails could light his horn and keep the light going.

I’ve always taken it that all unicorns are easily taught the basic cantrips - levitation and light, for the most part - but more complex magic beyond their cutie mark talent (like Rarity’s gem dousing) requires special training, which is why Celestia’s school exists, for unicorns that appear to have a handle on many different types of magic.

Needs to add in the actual play - him getting the ball in the basket at the very end of the practice match when they got to Appleloosa.

My Little Pony - 1992 Edition

Snails has taken a serious level of Magical Badass over the years, it seems. The last time we saw him do magic was in Season 1, “Boast Busters”, where he could barely do an elementary illumination spell. Here he’s levitating six separate objects and manipulating five of them simultaneously. That’s almost Rarity level TK control.
