to drag up to her face the messed up stuff she’s done.
So far he’s the only one to explicitly bring up her past this season (twice even),
and in both instances she left herself wide open for his sassy verbal smackdowns.

Seems to be fine with the story.
I know, right? I’m sorry I brought it up.
I only mentioned it to illustrate the similarities between both arguments and how stupid and petty they can really get. Let’s just drop this whole thing. OK guys?
Not to mention, “The Lion King” really ISN’T all that similar to Kimba apart from the main character’s name and vague similarities in design. The story and characters are completely different.
…….Really?
Actually, he was inspired by Scrooge McDuck.
Spike as a G-rated Tyrion? Yeah I guess I can see that.
@Psyga315
It’s nice to hear that Osamu would’ve probably been okay about ‘original Disney creation’ Lion King.
Oh, I know that. It was Bambi, wasn’t it?
@MegaAnimationFan
Just gonna point out how Osamu’s son said that his dad would be cool with the fact that Disney took inspiration from him considering how he took inspiration from them.
I thought I got rid of the prickliness! But if you insist.
I think I’ll pass on the whole Kimba thing. It’s been over 20 years, there’s no point. lol
Really?? That much? And you wanna share them with me?
I was surprised to see I put that tag up, I thought I had removed it before posting.
It’s gone now, but only because I’m not really into creating unique ‘one post only’ tags anymore.
However, despite the fact that Spike really was concerned and wanted to understand Starlight’s problem with Sunburst, his tone of voice at this part was pretty sassy and blunt.
Spike enjoys putting out the more blunt and in-your-face explanation when possible. He made sure Starlight didn’t beat around the bush with some half-assed statement like ‘and I got really sad when he left’. ‘Yeah, and you did all kinds of terrible shit too,’ Spike reminds her.
Basically, Spike is more of the bad-cop to Twilight’s good-cop, as far as Starlight is concerned. Though they are obviously good friends in season 6, too.
Well thats one prickly olive branch you’re offering but I’ll accept it regardless.
Now if you want, we can discuss how kimba is totes superior to his cheap western knock off counterpart?
I have a novella’s worth of opinions on the matter that i’m just dying to share with you. :)
Well honestly, I didn’t mean for this to go the way it did. I guess I’m just tired of the unnecessary hate. Not a single day goes by without lookin’ at Starlight related stuff and coming across at the very least one person complain, or leave some sort of comment that leaves me asking “Why did you even click on the damn thing then?!”. I know, I know. I could be worse and I’m not alone on how I feel. I’m just starting to get really annoyed that this is STILL going on. A lot like the whole Kimba the White Lion vs Lion King thing. Didn’t mean to ruin your vent……
And to answer your question, I have my share of characters/aspects like that I didn’t like (even hate). But it’s never to THAT degree. Well, except maybe how Pinkie acted in Filli Vanilli, because she’s my another favorite of mine. But even then I got over it. I just still can’t understand why it’s cathartic to pretty much complain and offer very little to no insight on how it could’ve worked.
And don’t worry, I’m not talking bout you. You just sometimes remind me of the more shallow minded bigots out there. Again sorry…
The tag may be applicable in cases of GIFs which context has been disregarded. I dunno. >w<
Oh boy, I’ve got nothing against the writers who’s work I take for what it is.
My mockery is reserved for starlight and starlight alone and seeing as how this pic was already doing that I considered this the appropriate place to vent my ire.
Are there any characters in this show or fiction in general that rub you the wrong way?
Have you never had that molten and heavy core of contempt for one aspect of a favourite show that you have been unable to shake no matter how you rationalise it?
Is starlight just an unacceptable target for mockery because others take it as slight against themselves?

No one’s defined by their past. And even if she were, she won’t be for long. If the description of her next episode is anything to go by. And with all that’s happened to her and what’s she’s done, of course she would have a hard time coming to terms with that!
Some people, though, tragically are stuck in the past and having a really hard time moving forward (I know from experience) but it WILL indeed pass. So do you really expect her to make such a fast recovery after so long of mentally harming herself? And for that matter, do you (and the other haters) really have no faith in the writers that they’ll do something even more with her despite the fact that they have proven over and over and OVER again that they can do something good (even great) with concepts that very little to no one think will work???
Starlight’s character is defined by her past (kinda like batman if you have a generous disposition)
She’s either driven by a tragedy that her mind has either massively exaggerated or she’s driven by her fear that other ponies will find out about the horrible things she’s done (which she brings up in casual conversation at any given opportunity).
One way or the other, Starlight will always be stuck in the past.
Hmm, kinda makes my theory about her getting stranded in the past during the season 6 finale sound all the more fitting and appealing.

But now she is. Or at least making progress.
Which is more that anyone can say about her haters. :P
spike is, in fact, best pony.
Why? She didn’t and her fans love her for it. ;)

You’ve gotta put the past behind ya.
