The ones I’ve seen aren’t all that complex, but really high end ones can do some pretty cool stuff. Some scifi stuff even have them able to make your voice sound exactly like someone else’s.

In terms of fantasy, I’ve seen magic enhance the volume of one’s voice in Harry Potter’s Albus Dumbledore. In terms of scifi, I’ve seen T-1000 alter his voice to decieve the cop with big ears diguised as John Conner’s foster parent. It’s simply a matter of combining the two; changing one’s voice magically as opposed to electronically.
 
I wanted to mention the time when Cell was able to carry his voice over the entire Earth, which was excruciating to an everyday person’s ears, in order to get Android 18 out of hiding. However, I tend to notice Western culture has trouble successfully categorizing the extraordinary powers of martial artists like the Z-Fighters, Ryu, and Heihachi. Which I’ve also found is one of several possible reasons anime does not as well in the rest of the world, Asian culture in general is deemed confusing by the rest of the world, and the swastika thing between Shinto Buddhism and Nazism. lol
