I can imagine Rarity as Frank Grimes angrily wondering how a “less talented pony” like Derpy (who is like Homer Simpson in this case) can win against a “hardworking more talented pony” like herself. All the work she had done, all the money she had to save up, beaten by somepony with so little talent.

“Probably has some rich parents that let her get away with mediocrity!”

That’s my headcanon is what filly Rarity is thinking in my mind.
