She IS, technically. She’s using a machine to steal the intellect of every single pony in Ponyville - well, everypony but Bulk Biceps, who is immune, having (apparently) the IQ of an eggplant.

The CMC helping save the day is actually something I wouldn’t mind seeing.
Heck, nobody questions how kid Link, or Ness, or something could be heroes. Or like how Bart & Lisa Simpson outsmarts Sideshow Bob. Give fictional kids some credit. They’re capable of being heroic just as much as any grown up character.
Like, come on. They are fillies, Zecora could help but they can’t.
But then there’s the fact that this is a comic for everyone, uh. I never expect anything good anymore.

It’s a small shift to fit with the character. Pam treats plants as her babies that humans are intruding upon, Fluttershy seems to be going down that same path.
