Canon to the series or canon within that particular book? Because a lot of shows and games maintain a line of separation between the main product and the books, trading only the really good bits.

Discord:Aw, here she is now.
 
Princess Celestia:Discord, what are you doing on the castle grounds? I thought you were left to rot in Tarturus forever?
 
Discord:I’m full of specal talents, I can turn a rain cloud in to a cotton candy with choclate milk. We Draconequus are the masters of harmony and chaos.
 
Celestia:Come on, you came to see if I am ajusting to my new life as… what ever I am now.

Celestia:A what?

As Celesta returns to her hiding, Luna sneaks up behind her and suprises her.
 
Discord as he watches from his magic miror and smiles wikedly,seeing the joy in the two as he unkwoingly has set the stage for his own downfall a century from now.
