Patton Oswalt Explains MLP
Read the comments…
They totally nailed you guys.
Oh god you reminded me of that.
It’s doing pretty bad (what a surprise!) And is beaten by that Pet movie, it might barely cover its budget but with all the advertising spending it’s gonna still be a huge bomb.
I bet they’ll blame it on mysandry.
Bull.Or denial i can’t tell at that point
None of those are “getting angry over tiny details”.
Which brings us back to the ignoring thing, something I and perhaps others do when one such abstract extremists is plainly visible… Well, right, I’d in actuality argue at them as well, as I’ve done elsewhere on this thread. XD
Well, it depends on how it’s done. We’re all on the same page with that, I think. And they have done the obsessed fan joke in the past. The first part of Daring Don’t was basically that, until Daring Do being real took over the narrative.
Which i doubt it’s their goal,being a show called “Friendship Is Magic” after all,it’s going to be slight jabs not full “FAK YOU FANS” middle finger to the audience.But my fear is that even the slightest jab will put self-important,self-absorbed and self crowned critics in full defensive “IM OFFENDED” mode
As I noted before, I’m going to wait and see how this goes. It’s going to have to try very, very hard to beat Sony’s sad Ghostbusters campaign, that much is true.
So,losing fans wit thin-skin.Lol,big loss.The others who know to make the distinction and dont base their identity on a cartoon would probably be unmoved while the perpetually offended would LEAVE THE FANDOM FUREVER TM.Introspection not going to kill ya you know
In part. I don’t agree with the tone or pushing the blame squarely on fans.
So, you agree with him because that’s what he wrote or…?
No, it’s about both. Writers and fans. Read it again, the very first line is about writers and their right to ‘strike back’ at fans.
Which they do have. They shouldn’t be surprised if they then lose fans afterwards, though.
That comment is about fans, not writers.
Nothing prevents writers from ‘striking back’.
They also shouldn’t be surprised if fans don’t enjoy it and make decisions accordingly. It goes both ways. Please don’t pretend it doesn’t.
Another thing that just occured me.Those peolpe had no business watching a satirical cartoon like The Simpsons if they are so easily offended by caricatures in the first place
And what prevent writers to strike back ? Once again,you’re not sacred cows
@Background Pony #9D2F
Fallacy’s fallacy.Also kudos on not even being able to point which fallacy it iis.Nice showing that spouting “STRAWMANEZ” nowadays is just a knee-jerk
Also
>>>>*So an episode about an overly-exaggerated critic…yeah, I’m really wary of that, because it’s just going to help perpetuate this anti-criticism mindset that already seems quite prevalent in society.<<<<<

“See, the problem I have with this is……who in the hell even does this? I’ve never met anyone, even online, that actually gets angry or upset over tiny trivia/details like that.”
I’ll just direct to Murisson twitter account and every 4Chan threads ever made or the recent Ghostbuster baby temper tantrum (both side of the conflict).Honeslty,i think some people hide their heads in the sand like ostrich when it come to fans entitlement
@Masem
This segment happened after Dennis “Quozl” Falk kept bothering both the writers and Fifi La Fume voice actress at fan conventions.Yet another example of a legitimate counter-reactions of writers against entilted “fans”
Goofle “Meet Dennis “Quozl” Falk, the man who got Tiny Toons cancelled by being INCREDIBLY creepy” for more info on the subject.
I have a lot more examples of batshit crazy entitled fans example from FIM to Trekkies back in the 60 who managed to slightly piss-off Rodenburry and Shatner
Please point out where I said “nobody can insult critics ever”.
Nice logical fallacy.
@Masem
See, the problem I have with this is……who in the hell even does this? I’ve never met anyone, even online, that actually gets angry or upset over tiny trivia/details like that. Why exactly are they going out of their way to portray such a heavily exaggerated stereotype that almost nobody embodies? It’s like that Sonic Sez short about….telling kids why they should never climb in a washing machine. Just…why?
The Animaniacs short is more bordering on the “you’re not allowed to be a huge fan of things that society deems unpopular” thing.
For example…you’re a huge fan of cars and can tell a car’s make and year model just by looking at it? Nobody bats an eyelid. You’re a huge fan of cartoons and know small trivia and can point out tiny errors/bloopers? LOL GET A LIFE NERD LOL YOU’RE SUCH A NO-LIFE NERD LOL!!!
I don’t get it.

You’re right. There’s definitely a difference between taking a playful jab at vocal, critical fans and using them to try and shame everyone into silence, which shamefully happened around AVGN.
That brings this full circle to my original point :)
There’s that manner of being demeaning to fans, which most pre-Season 8 Simpsons fans took great disrespect for, which led to a divide in that fandom.
And then there’s this manner: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lNJ6dFwh8a4 which fans knew exactly it was in jest and not meant as an insult.
The staff at Hasbro/DHX are more likely aiming for the latter, so while Quibble Pants may be on the surface a typical nit-picking brony, I doubt they are going to use him as a punching bag to lay out their own frustration with the fandom as the Simpsons did.
I never liked that exchange.
Everyone has a right to complain, especially fans.
Comic Book Guy: Last night’s Itchy & Scratchy was, without a doubt, the worst episode ever. Rest assured that I was on internet within minutes registering my disgust throughout the world.
Bart Simpson: Hey, I know it wasn’t great, but what right do you have to complain?
Comic Book Guy: As a loyal viewer, I feel they owe me.
Bart Simpson: What? They’ve given you thousands of hours of entertainment for free. What could they possibly owe you? I mean, if anything, you owe them.
Comic Book Guy: Worst episode ever.
The Simpsons (Season 8,Episode 14) “The Itchy & Scratchy & Poochie Show” (1997)
Written by David S. Cohen
What makes critic such untouchables sacred cows ? The answer is “nothing and grow a thicker skin,a show called “Friendship Is Magic” is unlikely to go full nerd-shaming”
The only reason that it tick you is that deep inside you know there is a grain of truth to the stereotype of unpleasable critic
I’m not saying his opinions and personality influenced the episode.
Edited
You probably have a reason why you’ve decided to assume an actor’s opinions and personality influenced an episode written likely little less than a year ago… And if it’s valid in any shape or form, I will proceed to cease my uncontrollable laughter. >w<
