Well OK then!
For me, Bon-Bon overcomes here existential depression, busts out the Megalovania, and shows Sombra a Bad Time!
… After Sombra kills Lyra, of course!
Not always. Just my personal headcanon. For everyone else, it can be whoever they want it to be.
Does it have to be the Mane 6 though?
I never was one for sad endings (I only tolerate them when there’s a lesson to be learned or when it leads to a story with a happy ending). I can imagine that in the Sombraverse, the Mane 6 defeat Sombra.
Well…
Even if it doesn’t, talking about time that has been changed can get complex.
If I torture someone to death, then rewind time, does that mean I did nothing ethically questionable (other than the time-travel itself)?
And what if a world ceases to exist entirely when it dies of old age?
We’ll assume it’s not ours, to avoid trouble with religious types.
But some other world, after going through the entirity of a galaxy’s lifespan until the heat death, fades away to something that can’t be said to even have ‘Time’ as a dimension anymore.
Did the people in that world never live, then?
Personally, I view anything that has happened, as having happened.
And chances are the entire ‘time-line’ was created at once (we just didn’t get to see past where Twilight left)
Mainly because, ultimately, I feel we all live in the ‘present’; The past is a lie (between your brain lying to you and inevitable mistakes, even ‘perfect’ memories can’t be fully trusted), the present is an illusion (you don’t see the world as it is, you see it as your senses tell you it is, and your senses are far from perfect - and they lie to you as well), and the future is unknowable (and can’t even be proven to exist)
So, either nothing matters at all (which is true, actually; Dig far enough, and all meaning and value is revealed as being ‘assigned’ rather than inherent) or you have to ignore the past and future and focus on time spent going through a ‘present’ in a given state.
In other words, Equestria still went to war with Sombra… Just not in the current time-line.
Rainbow still lost her wing… Just not in the current time-line.
And while things are great now… In another timeline, people suffer in a war.
On the upside, it means you don’t really need to do much to fit in fanfictions; Just set it at any other time than when Twilight was there, and you carry no risk of contradicting the canon.
…
wat?
When they cut off my legs, Carry me back to Equestria.
We’re all soldiers now.
