Some of them have stoppers in them, meaning they’ve got something inside; a proper spirit trap is an empty bottle. Zecora doesn’t wear pants, but she’s still a belts-and-suspenders lady, covering as many bases as possible.
Inb4 The headcanon that we haven’t see Zecora’s NEW hut after the incident with the Tree of Harmony in Season 4, and during Filly Vanilli and Twilight Time, not much of the exterior was shown. Probably during the chaos, her old hut was destroyed/non habitable and she has to either move to a new one. Is possible.
Easily noticeable right away that it was a different hut; everyone else here has already said what I had to say about it, but still, as a remark, that’s quite a progression.
I notice here that between the two versions, some of the hanging bottles are still in the same general arrangement, and there’s still that mask leaning outside the door, just on the other side now.
itt peeps trippin cuz a ol lady move to a new crib
@Smudge_Proof
what are those bottles?
It’s a combination of witch bottles and a bottle tree. There’s an ancient Congolese tradition of hanging bottles in trees to trap evil spirits and keep them away from a home, and slaves from that region brought the tradition with them to the Caribbean and US Gulf Coast; Voodoo/Voudoun/Vodun practitioners combined that with witch bottles, so now there are trees with glass bottles and jars full of creepy stuff hanging from them out in the swamps from East Texas to Florida.
I’m really liking the improved visuals from season to season. That said, if this was supposed to be an asset upgrade, I think they botched it. Those two don’t look like the same house, which is a bit of a shame, I liked the overall look of Zecora’s hut like the shape of the tree and how the two windows at the front strongly resemble eyes. Oh well, I’ll miss it, but I’ll be fine with what they’re created here.

The environment in Equestria is very dependent upon ponies’ emotions. Zecora’s hut is less scary looking now because ponies are no longer afraid of her.
I can buy that.
Most likely either herbs/mixtures that smell bad and/or repellent for most of the more aggressive creatures in the everfree.
Zecora wears belts and suspenders?
P.S. My headcanon is: plunderseed vines destroyed her old house, so she made a new, very similar, house.
I see, I see.

Thank you, that was interesting.
The witch bottle part I gather is the shape?

Maybe all of Zecora’s portions are having unforeseen side effects, and causing her home to change as a result?
But it looked like that for what, four seasons?
