you say a box magazine could work right? some crossbows have that, so maybe with that you said and the box magazine we could have a great weapon in the show for mister sentry
You’d have to have an external power source (battery-electric, likely) for an automatic or semi-auto crossbow, something to draw the string back, and given the weight of typical crossbow draw and the practical size of the weapon, it’d probably not be that fast. The great thing about a self-loading gun is that its mechanism is (generally) self-powered. The closest thing to an “automatic” crossbow might’ve been the Greek Polybolos, which drew the string via a crank-operated chain mechanism and had bolts fall onto the channel via gravity - the string would be loosed when the chain hit a certain point. The Chu-Ko-Nou used by the Chinese was similar, but really a self-firing, lever action weapon due to the main action (drawing the string and firing) being operated manually by a lever, with the bowstring being carried via a notch until hitting a bump that lifts it out of it. It sort of has the same…operational capability as a semiauto weapon, but strictly speaking it’s not semi-automatic - you could load a bolt into the channel and feasibly leave the lever in a position where it’s ready to fire.
I’ve mentally designed one in the back of my mind that uses a moving elevator that moves with a lever that also draws the string. Bolts would be drawn from a box mag at the back of the weapon via the drawing/‘cocking’ lever. Firing would be by trigger. It would have been used by Pegasi in lieu of flintlock firearms due to what I imagine would be an unreliable situation with powder flying out the pan at high diving speeds and…well…scorching fur and causing massive hangfires.
i saw that on far cry 4, but it was an automatic crossbow
Now, that’s interesting, because most semi-automatic weapons operate off the forces or gases generated by the significant pressure of the cartridge of a firearm. A crossbow operates basically under the idea of spring tension. Semi-automatic implies that the action of the weapon automatically re-loads and re-cocks the weapon but does not fire it more than once if the trigger is held down. I don’t see how you could do that with a crossbow’s mechanism. I could see how you could have a lever-action crossbow (which would draw the string and load a new bolt into the channel) with a box magazine, though.
that’s why i would like to see him with a semi-automatic crossbow on canon instead of a spear, we didn’t saw any snipers in the show, it would be good to see him as a sniper
Can’t tell, I see no gun.
is flash a sniper? i really would like he would be a sniper (headcanon)
I don’t think they’re wearing that armor because they’re enclave, but because they’re Pegasi during a time that armor was developed. This seems to predate the GPE, so they can’t.
After all, Rainbow Dash was written as having worn the same armor during the war. If I remember right.
It’s all you three got left.
