True that. Hell, after seeing what one of my friends in the U.S. Air Force went through due to a divorce, I’m already done with dating/marriage after having one girlfriend for only two years; Poor guy’s STILL digging through what is his and what isn’t.

Nah, money can totally buy happiness. Not directly, because it’s an abstract idea, but things that make you happy.  
Also consider:
 
  1. Money can’t cheat on you.  
  2. Money actually increases in value if you leave it alone for a long time.  
  3. If you want someone to stay with you, you’d best have money anyway, else they’ll wonder why you aren’t giving them presents.  
  4. Money won’t die at any point, so no need to worry there.

Well, we don’t know if that’s ‘normal’ dragon maturation, or a greed-triggered artificial growth spurt. It may be possible that dragons can mature without greed, just more slowly.

Spike is saying that love is greater and/or more important than greed, possessions, or whatever else can be represented by gold coins and gems.
 
Which is ironic, given that as we’ve already seen, going through dragon puberty to look like this requires being greedy.
